If you are going to start a e-commerce site, the best advice I can give is to NOT accept credit cards until your site is ALREADY making a profit. The reason is because you'll have to get into a 2 or 3 year contract. If the your business fails, your still stuck paying that company every month until the contract expires. Just accept cash, checks and money orders.

My story is I tried to get some stores on the net, I was told it was turnkey etc. by a company, it didn't work out due to the fact that you need to know HTML to do this, however this info is not in the ads. (There were other issues like double billing etc.) (I can't name the company due to a agreement w/ them I made to get out of their contract) Anyhow, I was told to sign a contract w/ Golden Eagle Leasing Inc..

When I saw the the internet stores were not going to happen, I approached Golden Eagle Leasing Inc. about tearing up the contract. Now it is a legal contract (far as I know) but considering the circumstances I told them it would be good customer relations to tear it up. They don't care I was not able to get any stores going, that they had to do nothing, are doing nothing and will be doing nothing. They want their money. They don't care this bad investment on my part has caused stress on my marriage. They just want money. They don't care I'm unemployed at the moment on Doctors recomendation due to stress-was vomiting several times a week from stress. They just want their money for doing nothing.

It's a heartless company in what's probably a heartless industry, unless there are other credit equipt. leasing companies care aboutr public relations. I don't know how other companies treat their clients. I just know if I were to try another business, I would NOT accept credit cards.

What they do IS legal but HEARTLESS and bad customer relations!!!

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Don't Throw Baby out with Bathwater

AUTHOR: Mark - (U.S.A.)

I understand your frustration and certainly understand why you wouldn't want to deal with another credit card company. I too am an ISO (Independant Sales Organization) for a large credit card company.

This industry is unfortunately wrought with deception and misinformation. However, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't accept credit cards at all. After all, that is how people pay for your goods and services and to tell them that you don't want their form of payment is to tell them that you don't want their business. As a startup, this is deadly. Therefore, one must proceed with a plan of action and make informed decisions. I agree with the above ISO/MSP who suggested that you deal exclusively with someone in your area. Moreover, get references from the the agent that you choose to work with. Call the references and make certain that they have been doing business with the agent for over a year so that they have a good feel for the processor. Next, ask the agent for the customer support/ help desk number and call it. Ask if the agent does local customer support. If so, call the number left by the agent and see if he either answers or if the answering machine merely refers you to an 800 number. Visit his office to see how many customer service people he has locally to handly customer support. The reason is that most agents are "hit and run" agents--promise local support and then run off never to be seen or heard from again leaving you at the mercy of an 800 number on the other side of the planet.

Once you've found an agent you can trust, DO NOT rent any equipment or software. Lease ONLY if you absolutely need to in order to preserve capital for your business. Buy your equipment/ software outright. If your agent won't give you this option, he is already trying to rip you off...find someone else to work with.
Having followed these steps, I think you will have a much more successful relationship with your credit card company and at the same time increase customer satisfaction.

As a credit card ISO, I try to stand above the crowd and offer personalized customer service so that my clients call me first and do have an 800 number as a last resort for problems after hours. I have a VERY large list of references who have processed with me for years and who would be happy to field your calls to tell you how our personalized customer service has worked for them.

If you have any questions, give me a call and I will try to steer you in the right direction in having a successful business-bankcard relation.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Don't deal with people you have never met.

AUTHOR: George - ()

We are an ISO / MSP (Independent Sales Org. and Member Service Provider)for several credit card processing banks and do business with a number of leasing companies, including Golden Eagle.

Unfortunetly over the last five years our industry is run amock by huge market expansion including the internet. As a result many major banks have jumped into the industry and they don't care. Have you ever tried to deal with your bank branch lately about a problem?

I am sorry about your problem but the next time you want to purchase something, pick up your "LOCAL" Yellow Pages and call a person or a company who conducts business in your area.

Had this happen to you and you were one of our clients we would have arranged for waiver of the cancellation fees, a buy out of your lease and a re-purchase or possible resale of your equipment to one of our other customers.

We live on referals and one satisfied client and the "word of mouth" is worth more than tons of advertising.

Golden Eagle is not a bad guy they are just a subsidiary of a very large company doing business in equipment financing and believe me they take a beating on a lot of leases.

You want Heart & Understanding deal with someone face to face, localy, that you know.....you want price go on the internet and deal with a URL and an 800 # that you don't know.

HENRY FORD once said .... "I can make it CHEAP, I can make it GOOD or I can make it QUICK, choose two of the three."

If you care to discuss it you're welcome to e-mail me. Maybe I can be of some help even at this stage.
