On June 2, 2011, I saw a sign advertising a $45 massage with a free hot stone massage hanging on a sign outside of the establishment, Golden Oriental Spa.  I walked in and purchased this promotional massage.

This was the worst massage and customer service I have had in my life.

1. The room was freezing when I got there. The receptionist was nice enough to turn on the heat when I complained, but the room should not have been freezing in the first place.

2. I was lying on the table for 15 minutes before someone finally came in. If they were running late, someone should have knocked on my door to tell me they were running 15 minutes late so I wasn't just laying there wondering what time the person was going to come in.

3. The person giving the massage never asked me if I liked it hard, medium, or soft. That is a customary question that should be asked from any massage place. The person massaging me never greeted me or asked me how I was doing and I she didn't speak any English (I know this because I did try to communicate with her) so I was very uncomfortable directing orders at someone who would not understand anything I said.

4. I never got the free hot stone massage offered in the promotion.

I complained and the receptionist (also the owner) blamed me and told me I should have communicated this to the person massaging me. The owner told me that I should have told the person massaging me what type of massage I wanted and that I should have reminded her to give me the hot stone massage. But what she is forgetting is that this person did not speak any English. I suspect she did not even have a massage license.

I want my $45 back.

I was refunded my $45.

Update: Golden Oriental Spa refunded my $45.

The owner came to my house and delivered my refund. I appreciated the refund, but mailing me my refund would have been more appropriate than stopping by my house uninvited. It really scares me
when people drop by my house unannounced.

But anyway, I do appreciate the refund, so thank you Golden Oriental Spa.
