My wife suffers from a bunion on her left foot and saw an advertisement on TV showing the relief obtained by others with this problem by using the services of Good Feet.  She went to their Victoria store on 7 April, 2009.  The store manager, Jacquie Bullen, listened to her and gave her a package of shoe inserts, briefly explaining their use and telling her that her feet had to become accustomed to them and that this would take some time, even a few weeks, before full relief from her problem would be felt. This cost her a total of $601.22.

She wore them on both feet, completely in accordance with Ms Bullen's verbal instructions, but when her left foot felt no better after a reasonable length of time and her right foot was becoming painful too from the insert, she went back to the store to explain her dissatisfaction.  Ms Bullen re-measured her left foot, told her that one of the inserts which she had been given was too large, exchanged it and gave her a page of written instructions.  My wife went through the same routine as before, but by early July her feet were no better.  Again she went back to the store and was told that "someone" would be in touch with her, but that the 30 day time limit for exchanges had expired and that no refunds were given.

On reading he leaflet originally supplied with the inserts in April, I saw that my wife was deemed to have agreed (which she definitely did not) that any lawsuit which she might initiate against Good Feet must be brought in San Diego County, CA, otherwise she would pay all Good Feet's legal costs - this for a purchase made in Canada!

I consider that my wife was ripped off for over $600 and scammed out of effective service by time limitations.  We have both advised other sufferers of foot problems to give Good Feet a very wide berth.

Untrue and misleading rebuttal

AUTHOR: Jock2 - (Canada)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 29, 2010

Good Feet Canada's rebuttal says that without my ripoff complaint, they would not have known about my wife's dissatisfaction with them.  Since my wife has sent them four letters to which they have not replied and the Better Business Bureau has contacted them on her behalf and received a letter from Trish Folland - Corporate Director in reply, their claim to having no previous knowledge of my wife's complaint is patently untrue.

Furthermore, their rebuttal states that 32% of those who obtain orthotics do not obtain relief through their use.  So why did they not tell my wife this before removing over $600 from her and causing her much additional pain.

The Victoria podiatrist to whom she went eventually said, when he had heard her explanation of her problem and that she had been to Good Feet, replied " So you've been scammed too ! ".

Dear Victoria Good Feet Customer,

Thank you for placing your opinon on the internet, otherwise we would not have known about your dis-satisfaction with our store and products. We are still here to serve you and work with you should you give us the opportunity to do so? Sometimes no matter how hard we try, customer dis-satisfaction and compliants fall through the cracks! - Honestly - We Are Sorry for that!!

At Good Feet, we have helped tens of thousands of customers in Canada since our opening in 2001. And though our goal is to make everyone happy; as a business owner and a consumer, I believe that we all learn at some point in life that no matter how much we strive for that, it is nearly impossible to achieve. As a Global Company, Good Feet has served well over a Million of Customers since our inception in 1996 showing how many success stories we have created.

Interestingly, even the medical communities own scientific literature suggests that the use of Medical "Custom Orthotics" have a success rate of only approximately 68%. This does not mean that they are not efficacious, just that some individuals do not either respond to the supports, they do not use them as directed, that person may need futher medical intervention, or the tyrpes of shoes and activities that they utilize may not afford the relief they are looking for. In fact, It s my belief that our success rate is higher than this because of the wide variety of offerings and levels of support only offered at Good Feet.

At Good Feet, our team consists of "Good Feet Certified and Trained arch Support Fitters", each staff member participates in both an online certification program which incorporates an in depth on-line training program as well asin store training and ongoing support. Although we are clearly not a Dr's office, nor is it our place to Prescribe and or Diagnose; we strive for our team to be far more educated than those who sell arch supports on-line, off the hook or in most other retail environments. Our Good Feet Supports have been specifically designed by, and evaluated by Podiatrists, Biomechanical Specialist, Chiropractors, Therpists and other health care practitioners; additionally they have been placed through various Scientific Studies and Trails etc. Our Supports have been shown to be very effective and efficatious for a wide variety is foot related issues. Our company manufactures over 20 different styles of supports in over 300 different sizes and stands behind the vast majority with a lifetime warranty.

We have so many happy customers and testimonials to support what we do, and customers who do nothing but priase our products, services and on going support; people who reach out and tell us how we changed their lives when no other products were able to help.

I will re-iterate, we are here to continue to work with you, please don't hesitate to contact us through our website for futher assistance and hopeful resolution to your problem. The Website that we are responding to specifically asks for us not to leave names and or #'s for privacy and security.

Best Regards - The Good Feet Stores of Canada
