Goodwill Industries SouthWest Florida Ex-Manager unhappy with policies & practices at Goodwill North Fort Myers Florida

As an ex-store manager working for this non-profit organization, I witnessed many unethical and unconscienable acts. First, as other reports on Goodwill stores throughout the country have stated, donations are often trashed. They rountinely trash toys (lead ?), books (encyclopediias, Bibles, textbooks), cassestte tapes, stuffed animals, clothing etc. Many items that can be recycled or put out for sale are trashed by employees because they need room.

Goodwill SWFL employess handicapped folks and sometimes they employ perfectly able employees that they list as handicapped for "quota" reasons and advantages. In any case, they seriously underpay and overwork all employees. This is a very profitable company, but the upper managers and administrators make sure that they are well compensated...on the backs of their "handicapped" workers.

This is not a good organization. Bring your donations directly to homeless shelters, centers for abused-women, church organizations, etc. Check out the organization. Take the time to find out who your well-intentioned help...helps!
