On or about March 27, 2009, my son ordered a cd from google at home.com for $1.97. He asked if he could use my debit card for the small charge to which I agreed. Several days later he received a single cd delivered via UPS. After reviewing the information we both decided it was probably a scam and not for him.

Imagine my surprise as I opened my May bank statement and discovered that googleathome.com had charged me an additional $99.00 on 4/29 and $47.50 on 5/12.

I tried for five (5) days to contact them by telephone to no avail. Finally on Monday, June 8, after holding for over 15 minutes, a representative named Shelly informed me that they had charged the account because the cd was not returned within the 14-day free trial time frame according to the terms and conditions we had agreed to and therefore, we are not entitled to any refund.

I pointed out to her that the two additional charges totalling approximately $146.50 were unauthorized; I explained that my son had used the debit card but was not an authorized signer on the account. She told me that if I suspected fraud I should contact the local police department. She did however, offer to make a note on the account so that I would not incur anymore charges. A refund was out of the question.

I asked her what it was we got for $150.00 and she told me it was the CD. I told her that was a bunch of crap and that I would be contacting my bank to file a merchant dispute. I am in Oregon but banking laws are federal. I did not agree to these charges; I have contacted the company to try to resolve this to no avail. It has now been 30 days, so I will be filing forms with my bank to have these charges reversed. Let the banks fight it out with these theives!
