Grace Nails Salon Horrible customer service and Terrible Experience Toronto Ontario Canada

I am writing to you today after visiting the Grace Nails Salon on Sunday February 1st 2009 for a walk-in manicure. I asked for the bio-gel nail treatment with a French design. The manicurist who helped me first began to use tools that she had just finished using on the previous customer; the tools had obviously not been sterilized. I asked for them to be sterilized, otherwise this can pose a serious health risk to myself and other customers. The young lady proceeded with the manicure and after three hours it was complete. The manager guaranteed me it would last 2 to 3 weeks and charged me 60$.

Four days later, I noticed that the finish was starting to bubble at the top of my nails and peeling, which is not supposed to happen; I went to another salon to ask if this was normal and if I should just have them fixed. This salon confirmed that it wasn't normal to see such extensive damage after such a short period of time; it usually appears after a minimum of 2 weeks. The manicurist explained that the damage was caused because the nail and cuticles had not been properly treated prior to posing the nails.

The next day, two more nails completely broke off, so I returned to Grace Nails to ask for a refund. The manager was very rude and hostile and absolutely refused to refund me while accusing me of causing the damage on purpose. When I told her I did not want to leave without a refund or the name of the owner she proceeded to call the police. I remained calm throughout the entire situation and never resorted to yelling or insulting, unlike her.

The police arrived and asked her to calm down and informed me that they could not force her to refund me. I knew this already but did not want to leave the salon until they arrived in case she accused me of any wrong doing, the police eventually left after agreeing there was nothing they could do. As such, I figured I could write to the BBB in hopes that may help. All in all, the entire situation was both frustrating and humiliating and I just wanted a refund as the product and service being sold was based on fraudulence. I cannot believe the horrible business practices at Grace Nails Salon. The manager resorted to calling the police simply because a customer requested a refund because the quality of their services was terrible.
