While going through the enrollment process with the enrollment counselor at GCU, I was told to complete my financial aid form.  At that time I didn't have my correct tax information available and the copies I retrieved of it were not readable copies.  I in turn requested my transcript from the IRS.  I called myself correcting the information on my FAFSA but I'm not sure if all the information was corrected or not.  However, the financial aid department continued to request more and more information from me and I was able to give to them until now.

Two weeks ago I was informed through my student services representative that I am still going through verification and that the information on my 2014 tax return shows me having $660 unaccounted for and I don't know what it is or where it came from.  I have had other people who are financial aid advisors look at this for me but they said they don't see where GCU is coming from with that.  At this point I'm not very clear on what it is they are requesting from me because I have given them all the information I have regarding my income and it is all accounted for on my return.  I in-turn asked to speak with someone in financial aid but my counselor said that I wasn't allowed to speak with them but only to her.  She then went on to tell me that she was going to cancel my next class and that I was to finish up with the class I'm in since I've already started.  I must add that I am doing rather well and I am enjoying my class.  She also made me aware that she had to cancel my classes until I get through verification and that if I don't get through verification that I would be removed from taking any more classes and I will be held accountable for the bill that has occurred.  Even though according to law they can stick me with the bill, but I think it is totally unfair for me to pay a bill when they knew from the beginning that I was not finished with verification or the enrollment process.  I am still attending the school but I have never had trouble with financial aid in the passed when I went to other schools, so why with this one???  I think they are trying to make me pay the bill and that they have messed up somewhere and they are making me pay for their mess.  It is not fair and I want to know WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THIS???  I have tried looking at other online schools but they do not have the online BA Degree that I am interested in.  If anyone can help me in this matter I would sure appreciate it because I want to continue my education, but I can't afford to continue IF I have to pay out of pocket.  WILL SOMEONE PLEASE HELP this single, minority mother of 4???

Thank you in advance!!!
