I enrolled at GCU in April 2009 for a grad program. The enrollment counselor just signed me up and it was hard getting any information out of this person. This should have been my first clue. Then when it came to my enrollment counselor and financial aid counselor I had to keep calling them to get any information. It was getting close to the start date of class and I couldn't find where they registered me for class. Well my class started on May 4, 2009 and it was six weeks long. I also had another class start in July. So both classes cost $2640 -1 credit was $440 and both classes were 3 credits. The first day of class I tried to get into it and I was unable. The university was having some technical problems so I emailed my instructor to let her know that I couldn't get into class. Well I finally got in on Tuesday night and our first assignment was due on Wed. Long story short. I contacted my enrollement counselor on Thursday and told her that I wanted to be dropped from the university. Well I received an email back stating that I owed them over $400 dollars and that I would receive a 75% refund. Well I haven't even been in class 4 days. I asked for a breakdown of my charges and at this time they refuse to give me any. I cancelled my loan but they had already distributed 2834.00 dollars. I also had a book loan which was supposed to be taken out of my financial aid. They were deceptive about this also. Now I have very expensive books that I can't return because I ordered them more than 5 days before class started and they have only a 5 day return policy.
My loan states that I owe $2559.00 dollars and GCU stated in a letter that they would return $2716.04 back to the loan company but they have only returned $275. So I owe almost 2600.00 dollars to Citi bank for 4 days of being enrolled in class in addition to whatever the balance at GCU is. Since they won't give me a break down of the charges I don't know what to argue against.
