This is a warning... PLEASE do not do business with Granite Real Estate Investment Co. If you have answered the letter that they sent to you in the mail, stating they will buy your home in as little as 120 days. Please do not continue with them. The Companies Business Plan clearly states that they will mislead people to sell their property.
Now what would happen to you if you continued Business? Well, they will state a price for your home over the phone that is pathetically under market value then before you see any money, they will premarket your home for $15,000-$40,000 more then what you were promised. They will be in contract with a buyer for your home at a higher price then you will recieve. They will settle with this buyer and profit A LOT of money from you. You will only see the original amount that they promised you and nothing more. They will never buy your home. This is where the Lying comes in. You were under the impression that the company will buy your home, well they never will, they are just the middle man, RIPPING YOU OFF!
And that is not all... if they have trouble selling your home before the date they had promised to buy, they will terminate the contract from you. You will then be in the same place as you are now...except the public records will show your home on the market with no success of selling. For your information this is bad, if you are still thinking of selling your property.
All of your expectations from the company will be crushed, you wil be dealing with greedy people that are looking to rip you off. You will never be able to speak directly to the source, and they will continue to ignore your request or just never return your calls.

Most of all you will feel like the VICTIM!
Also, if you are working with an agent to purchase a home that Granite Real Estate is premarketing...
PLEASE do not go any further. They will waste your time, Keep your money, work you and your agent for more money then the home is worth so that they can profit from you.
You may never go to settlement and you will loose your deposit. They will lie to you and your agent, while diclosing your information to others so that they can get more money.
Do Not Buy from Granite Real Estate.

You can file a complaint directly with the Real Estate Commission by downloading the form off the Department of State website. You can also call and request a complaint form be mailed to you.

If you feel that they have treated unfairly or tried to rip you off you may file a complaint with the Real Estate Commission in PA. You can do this online by going to the PA State web site; go to State Agencies; then to State Department. Once you are at that screen you can go to file a complaint.
You can also file a complaint with Consumer Protection again on line.
By filing a complaint you will help others from geting ripped off. These complaints are taken seriously by the Real Estate commission and they will investigate. This will be done by the Department of State. There are rules and disclosures that are required by the PA real estate law and if they are not filed then they can have their licensed suspended or revoked.
