Granite Solutions: Steve Mark Takes your money and does not perform work as promised. Granite and poor workmanship. Hamlin New York

I hired Steve and Granite Solutions in late May to put dry wall and a bathroom in my basement and to also put new cabinets, backsplash and flooring in my kitchen. Although I had 4 other contractors quote the work, I went with this company because Steve told me he could have the basement completed before our move in date of June 13th and the kitchen completed prior to a 4th of July Open House we planned on having.

The entire basement job was a fiasco, including, losing power to half of my upstairs due to faulty wiring, holes in the drywall so big that electrical outlet covers couldn't be installed, burned rubber marks in the driveway from their turck, and saw dust all over our furniture which was being stored in the garage. The worst part though, was they did not finish, ever. Finally, on July 17th, we asked them to leave and we decided to finish the work (and fix the mistakes) ourselves.

To top that off, I asked for a new contract for the kitchen with set dates to have the job completed (no it hadn't been started yet). Steve agreed and two more weeks went by without a call or a visit. By the way, he had the money for all of the kitchen materials since June 3rd. I finally got a hold of him and told him we would not be using his company for the kitchen and that I wanted my money and the key to my house back immediately. He did not return my key, I ended up having to call the police to have it retrieved from his "partner". And I did not receive any of my materials. I threatened a law suit, to which he replied, "stand in line". After weeks of going back and forth with his partner (Steve refused to talk to me or correspond with me), they informed me that for a "restocking fee"--for materials they never even purchased, they would give me my materials. I told them to just give me my money back since they hadn't even ordered most of the materials. They refused to do so. They also told the owner of one of the places they were purchasing materials from, that they reason they couldn't pay was because I owed them $2,000. In fact, they owed me $6,490!

I am still battling with this situation, however, there are many others that are doing the same in Rochester. I have decided to report this to the Attorney General's office, as a civil suit will do no good. (The man has at least 11 judgements against him).

Steve Mark is a crook, a liar and a thief. Please do not get caught up in his lies and DO NOT give him money. You will receive nothing but poor work and lies in return.
