I had an old, outdated book on gov't grants for small business', so I went online to research some of the gov't sites to access info on these. The gov't sites are hard to navigate and read, and I came across a site which had all this info in one place. I skipped over several sites that seemed scammy, and came to one that was $1.50 to try it out. I thought, hey, $1.50, for 7 days, I'll give it a go. I read their agreement twice. I went to the checkout page and never found ANYTHING that made me say hey, I don't want to sign up for this, it's a binding agreement. I am VERY alert to being scammed, and I should have known better but I didn't find ANY red flags. So I gave it a go. The site kind of stunk and I left, but hey, it was $1.50.

Well, no it wasn't. Today I found a $49.50 charge to my bank account (I used debit). I called the company, and of course they said I had signed an agreement to a 7 day trial and I HAD TO CANCEL WITHTIN 7 DAYS or I had agreed to be a member for $49.50 a month. I said I had never seen that anywhere and they pretty much said how could you miss it, it was right on line 2 of the agreement. Sigh. It wasn't. Oddly, I can't even GET to the web page I originally landed on to sign up, to even double check myself. The lady I first spoke with hung up on me (I did get mad, but still). I called back to confirm that my account was cancelled.

Then I found TONS of info on these scams online and was heartened to find one person reporting a similar scam and she argued until she got them to refund the money. I called back and did my best, which just wasn't good enough. The guy called me a liar, pretty much flat out said he didn't CARE about if I was a happy customer or not when I told him I was his customer and not happy, and wished me good luck getting my money back from my bank since I had given them my credit card information and signed an agreement. He was apparently the 2nd person under the people who owned the company because I asked for a manager and he said he was the manager, then I said well why don't you get me one of the owner's and he said he was an owner. I got to the end of what I could do and had to settle for asking him how he slept at night with such a black soul and reminding him that karma IS real and it IS a b***h, so enjoy the high times now.

So now I feel really stupid. Upset. Mad. Worried that I am down $49.50. Defeated. My ONLY consolation is that I am going to tell EVERYONE I can about this so NO ONE makes the same mistake! Stop giving these people your money! It is a waste. They are thieves. I filed a complaint with the BBB, more as an FYI. I'm SURE they had that disclaimer SOMEWHERE in a TINY font so I'll never get that money back. I'm sure my bank won't back me up (I hate my bank too but that's another story). As that jerk off so snidely pointed out on my third call I gave them my credit card info so good luck. Thanks for stealing from me and then rubbing my nose in it too. REAL nice customer service.

Here is the website I went to (except I cannot find the page I saw originally where you sign up)
http://www.grantresearchguide.com/resource/login.php?access=false&redirect=index.php

This is another page which is the same company. (it shows the "free CD", which also apparently subscribes you to some $50 monthly service as well) www.grantresearchguide.com

I have found SO many complaints online about this company and others like them. DO NOT EVER USE THEM. If you have had trouble with THIS company heres their address and file a complaint with the Las Vegas, NV BBB!

I got the last guy I spoke with to SAY that he doesn't CARE what I think about the company, and that nothing I could say would hurt their business, since THEY'RE on the INTERNET. Well, I'm on the internet too, so PLEASE LEARN from my mistake. Don't give these evil people another cent!

Also a company called Rival Technologies Inc. is located here.
Their website is http://www.rvti.com/contact.php
and thier phone number is 877-286-4198

I spoke with customer service at Grant Instructors (800-235-1364) they admitted accidentally that the number 201-704-0032 is affiliated with them, but they are in a different state and cannot reach them. surprise, surprise.

I WAS RIPPED OFF TOO

AUTHOR: Kelly J - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 03, 2008

I found your site by another site, (http://gov-grants.us/). They claim that there are around 50 grant websites out there and that 47 of them are companies that are fraudulent and there are only three reputable companies and your company is one of them. It also states that you have a money back guarantee but when I gave you a call you told me that you don't. That even though other websites say you do once you leave their site and go to yours, nothing said on the previous site is valid only what is on your site. As well on your site there is only a small plain text explanation of your membership at the bottom of the page. It is not in bold, it is not in another color, it is black text at the bottom of the page and you have to scroll down to read it. This information should be right next to the checkout and visible when you open the page so that you know what your getting into. I was only able to get $37.50 refunded to me, which is a prorated amount off of the $49.50 and the only reason I got that was because I called bank right after I got ripped off and they got your company on the phone. I don't feel that that amount is good enough. I would like the whole $49.50 refunded, you can keep the $1.09 you charged me to access your site.

AUTHOR: Nick Ramos - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 18, 2008

I'm more then happy to issue you a refund. We tried issuing a refund, I need more info to be able to do so. Carrie F. isn't enough, we have a lot of Carrie F. in our system. I even went as far as going through each Carrie F. to see which one was from Milton, Massachusetts. No Carrie F. was found in Massachusetts, at the lease I would need a last name or order number. Thanks for your time.

Apology NOT accepted

AUTHOR: Carrief - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 09, 2008

Well Mr. Grant Instructor, if you were REALLY sorry I think you would have at least refunded my money. Most REAL companies actually kiss an unhappy customer's butt, since the customer is consuming their goods or services thus giving them their means of survival and profits! Referring other people to the business is also a reason to kiss a consumer's butt. The way I was spoken too leads me to believe that your company is not actually relying on consumers at all... just "suckers". So you don't give a crap what we think, you tricked us out of our money fair and square, and the employees at this joint are REALLY good at pointing put how justified they are in doing this... almost like they do that ALL DAY LONG.

I was tempted to call and pretend to be happy with the awesome services I have been getting every month and I had never spent $49.50 in a better fashion! I just had to call and express my delight. just to throw them off... I bet they don't know how to deal with THAT.

So I have wasnted enough time on this BS... just wanted to rebutt the rebuttal. Actions speak louder than words... getting puppy dog eyes from these jerks does NOT make me feel better. MONEY might have. I have seen no refund, no money. So... apology NOT accepted!

also... why do they have employees trolling scam report sites... hmmmmm?

#3 Consumer Suggestion

Get a pre paid debit card

AUTHOR: Bishop - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 27, 2008

Here is a suggestion. When dealing with a NEW/UNKNOWN [to you] company on the internet invest in an inexpensive prepaid debit card or I think you can use a Visa giftcard for that intital purchase. Make sure you read the fine print about the loading of the pre paid debit cards ($$$). I'm not sure that's right however, I refuse to let any unknown company debit my BANK account. I learned the hard way.

Just a suggestion.

Grant Instructor LLC

AUTHOR: Nick Ramos - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, May 23, 2008

I would first like to apologize to Carrie F. about the misunderstanding while placing an order for our materials. We have designed our website to simply offer individuals all the right tools to receive government funding. How we figure it is1.95 instant access for 7 days is a great deal and plenty of time to insure that this is what your looking for, if not cancel with in that 7 days and no charges are issued. Our average customer will remain about 2-3 months, after receiving the grant it ends up being more then a great deal which is one way we keep our business running. We are proud to state that our website has no hidden agenda, all the charges are stated right on the billing page.

I am very sorry and upset to hear how you were treated by Customer Service, I have addressed this and can assure that no one will be treated as such again.

You may have noted that before clicking the "Submit Order" button on the home page of the Grant Research Guide, directly below that big red box is a paragraph stating, "By submitting this form I am ordering the Grant Resource Information and trial membership. After the seven day trial I will be charged $49.50 a month thereafter if I do not cancel. I have read and agree to the PRIVACY POLICY and Terms & Conditions. Cancel any time by calling 1-800-235-1364." Information about the trial membership can be found on either our Terms and Conditions, located at http://www.grantresearchguide.com/terms.php or on the payment page, where you are asked to enter your payment method and information.

There it states: "A free seven (7) day subscription in the Grant Research Guide Resource Center is included with each free CD that is shipped. If you choose to cancel your subscription to the Grant Resource Center anytime within the first seven (7) days of sign-up you can do so without charge. If you decide to keep your membership in the Grant Resource Center, a charge of $49.50 will be automatically billed to your credit card each month for continued subscription access. Please see the Terms and Conditions for additional details."
