So I know a few guys who had been sacked from this hotel all in the space of a few weeks.  All illegally.  The manager, Chris, had been stood outside one of the lads' rooms smoking throughout the year on his cigarette breaks and the chef who's room it was, had overheard everything.  Everything from bullying an underage barman (17 in the UK is illegal) into sleepiung with him behind his boyfriend's back, under the pretense that he would get the sack should he not sleep with Chris.  He had been stealing for a while and pinned the blame on a deputy manager who in turn got the sack.  As did a barman.  He had cheated and lied over the course of the year , and when his boyfriend, Adam was in touch with a guy from the local shop down the road there was a scene in the restaurant on a busy saturday when the guy in question came in for a drink.  Chris would shout, "I want that f**ker barred and out of here now" etc in front of guests with no regard for paying customers' sensitivity.  A girl form the front desk left because of the bullying from Chris, over her apparent personal hygiene and looks.  He would harass staff on their days off, one girl, Leslie, was receiving 8 or more text messages in ten minutes on her night off because she was drinking with the young man (Jake) whom Chris tried to sleep with (Or else), the texts pertaining to having Leslie sacked if she goes out with Jake. A waitress, Helen, left because of Chris's insensitivity towards her working hours, when she went to him to discuss them, he would reduce her to tears, he would then go to the chefs and say things like, "If she cries one more time or comes to me with that bulls**t she's gone." etcetera. 

The chef (Let's call him Leo) had heard all about Chris's escapades whilst a lot happened outside Leo's room, he then told Leslie about everything he heard, and when Leslie went to leave, CHris went through her phone and saw the messages.  Chris then approached Leo, Leo told Chris exactly what he thought of his type and proceeded to see no other option than to walk out of the hotel for good.

This is when all of Leo's good friends in the hotel were targeted by Chris and illegally sacked by him and the hotel owner, Mark Taylor of Taylor hotels LTD in Grasmere...

His friends, Mike and Paul, and his girlfriend Becca were bullied, lied about and conspired against for the next three weeks.  Funnily enough, Chris let slip to Mike that he thought Leo and Mike were actually conspiring against HIM when they were together in Leo's room after work, when they were in fact watching films and talking about politics, media, films, playing computer games as there was a 'no talking about work' clause in Leo's room 24/7.

Mike was ill one day, the only day in 2.5 years he had taken a sick day.  He came to work and one chef, Patrick, told him to get back to work as he was not ill (Patrick was not in any position to question anybody's state of work due to the continuous warnings he'd received for his own incompetence and hygiene inconsistencies), this sparked an argument between the two and Mike went back to his room.  A few days later he was hauled before the man and sacked for no reason.  A few weeks later Mike brought it to the company's attention that there was no reason for him to be fired and he was taking them to tribunal, so Chris and Mark told Mike that it was because he had a fight with Patrick, and there were eyewitness reports.  The reports were later found to be strikingly similar in appearance, and spoke of an altercation which never happened, with 'assault' against Patrick, with no charges brought forward.  When one of the chefs showed one of the reports to one of the waitresses who had supposedly written a report, she said that it was different from the one she had originally given.  Go figure. 

The next to go was Paul.  He was brought up before the man for 'fiddling timesheets'.  Mike, another honest worker who had not taken a day off in three years and was on annual pay anyway, was fired immediately , the same as Mike, with no verbal warning, no written warning, and what's more, Mark Taylor called the Jobcentre in Ambleside to spread these lies and have Mike's benefits stopped.  The Jobcentre adhered to the lies and capped Mike's benefits.  Mark Taylor did not pay the wages owed to either chef, nor did he pay any holiday pay.

Chris the went on a verbal assault spreading libel about Leo to his girlfriend who was still a barmaid there to tell her that Leo (well liked in the area and a very honest guy) had sent a receptionist text messages telling her that he was 'going to rape' her.  He would spread vicious rumours about all three knowing that they were not around to defend themselves, when Leo's girlfriend wouldn't believe him, he got it into his head that she was also 'against him' and sacked her, the reason being that they could not afford to keep her on.  Two weeks after she went, they employed a barmaid, two chefs and a receptionist. 

Mark Taylor has repeatedly been heard saying things like, "I don't give a f**k about the law".  Evidently so as he has a second wife in the Philippenes with children, along with his wife in the UK.  Nobody is sure if his wife in the UK knows, this is not common knowledge at all. 

Thers is so much more to this situation, but I have only felt the need to highlight the bullet points.,  Chris Copeland is a blabbermouth, a liar, a cheat, has never managed a company in his life before, was made manager to cut cost, cannot do his job, should not be allowed a position of management, behaves like a clinical sociopath and shows a stupendous amount of disregard for human rights, respect, and lawful abide. 

 A chip off the block who is Mark Taylor.  A two-timing liar who is content ruining peoples' lives in a bid to save money regardless of emotional cost.  Together they have sacked numerous good staff and not paid them what they owe, spread reputation-destroying rumours in a town which is small enough to absorb them and get away with doing whatever they want, when they want it. 

In short - and for lack  of a better phrase - a pair of total ' motherf***ers'!
