Contracted Mr. Baile (vendor) on 11/22/16 to do two bathroom remodels. The work stopped at 40%, meaning a shower with no doors since November, and the kid's bathroom with unfinished sheetrock and subflooring, completely unusable for months and months. I'm disheartened that there is very little we can do but sit and wait for legal process.

We are a family 1) in stress with military son overseas 2)  out $10K, and 3) had to cancel plans of listing our house until money is recouped so work on house can be finished.

We feel abandoned. The turning point was when we asked for a completion date so I could make arrangements with the real estate agent. This angered John Baile. He then made a request for the final funds which was completely ludicrous. Honestly it was completely ludicrous that we gave him the money that we did upfront, but we honored our contract. To continue to pay out without receiving materials and services would have been idiotic.

Ultimately we feel abandoned. We worked through differences in style and communications. Even though we were the customer, we had no say-so in when and if he showed up to work. His communication style went from hostile to emoji's, with very little middle ground as he simply didn't like to communicate what his plans were.

When John Baile, the "Great American Handyman" went completely silent we sent a certified letter which was never picked up.

After doing some reading, I see that this is a theme with a lot of his jobs over the years... which is abusive to consumers. But the fault is ours for not doing enough research to read all of the bad posts about him and stopping when we read one good one. I sure wish I could go back in time and work with someone qualified, and that possesses work ethic, even ethics at all.

We have paid $16,956.00 to date broken out as:

Won in Court! Past time to pay up!

AUTHOR: Beth - (United States)

POSTED: Sunday, April 07, 2019

We won in Union County court. John Baile of Great American Handyman still refuses to pay. We were able to pick up his trailer and auction it off which gave us approximately a third of what's owed. Can we get some help here by posting to RipOff Report to collect the remaining 2/3?

Also, he finally was downgraded to an "F" on the BBB (Better Business Bureau).

Now, he has moved operations to Southern Pines so he can start his business over there. More victims to come!

11/2 to 4/1... 5 months is certainly longer than 8 days. I hate that what you consider "negotiating" was just asking for a completion date for the real estate agent. Heck, if Mr Baile had shown up at all we may have actually completed the work. Mr Baile used emails as an excuse not to do ANY work. Regardless of whether he could complete the work on time, he simply quit and left us with 40% of our contracted project done.

It's disappointing that our family's discomfort is amusing to Mr Baile. He suggests we take accountability for the 8 days I "caused" him to not show up? What more accountability than not being able to take a proper shower, more accountability than making repeated request to get some sort of commitment to get back to work, more accountability than having to seek someone else to complete the project and spending double the budget we agreed to with Mr Baile?

Shame on you Mr Baile, But you have no shame. Just Blame.

Refund our money and shut up.

Although the report is well document and well written it still amusing. The number one factor in key that was left out of this is the simple fact that the consumer try to put a four day deadline on completing a project that needed eight days over a 21 day. They still refuse to except the terms 21 days -8 Would have had that job completed 13 days earlier. The amount of time that the client wasted emailing back-and-forth arguing over four days was four times the amount of the job would've take to complete to begin with they need to take responsibility for that darn her money issues here
