Like many others in California I was once a member of Great Expectations Dating Service down in San Diego. I quickly found out it was not for me as virtually every woman there was over the age of 45 (I was then only 30) Anyway once the membership I had payed for was up I cancelled my membership. Initially I tried to do this by phone, they replied that this could not be done and it had to be done in person or in writting. So I went in person and was told that the person who addresses these concerns was out sick and wouldn't be back for a few days. So I went back in a few days and now she was on vacation. So I submitted a written formal request to discontinue service and hand delivered it to their office in San Diego in person. The billing did not stop. They claimed to have never recieved it. So I went and got a friend who is a public notary and got a notarized copy and took her with me when I delivered it to their offices. The billing finally stopped, for a while. In my written statement I asked to stop being a member because I had moved over an hour north into Orange County. Apparently they/someone in their company took this as license to shift me to their internet service.

I don't know where its based nor who actually runs the d**n thing but they have called me twice over the last year demanding payment for a service I did not ask for, did not want and did not authorize. The first time I spoke with the woman on the phone and she said they would discontinue the service. But the biliing did not stop so I put a stop payment on the card. They called me in April again threating to refer me to a collection agency and I told them if they did I would have to refer it to a lawyer. I'm sure this is having a negative impact on my credit report so I sent a message to the better business bureau in San Diego. There was absolutely no response from the company. Thus far I have recieved no written notice from them but I am concerned about my credit and am unclear as to what to do about it. Does anyone have any suggestions?
