My elderly disabled friend was moving from FL to IN to live with me so I went online to get info on a bus trip for her. I found the GH phone# and called to set up the trip. They were very helpful with ready info on locations, times, prices, etc. They also helped me find the best trip with the fewest and shortest layovers as possible. This quick service with easy answers gave me a false sense of security.   

I then informed them my traveller was elderly and used a medical type of walker and would need to bring it along. They said that it would not pose a problem and gave me a seperate phone# for GH Assistance. I called them and was told a walker would be fine and that my friend would be assisted at every bus change etc. My friend followed up herself by calling twice to confirm and get info on the assistance that was to be provided.

When she showed up at the Lake City, Florida GH station, there was no assistance to be found and she was totally ignored until she attempted to board the bus with her walker in tow. That is when she was rudely informed that her walker would not be allowed on the bus and that it would be an extra $35 fee to stow it with the baggage.

As I have already stated, my friewnd is elderly and was purposely not travelling with extra cash. She was left with no recourse except to abandon her expensive medical equipment at the station. Now she is living in Indiana without a walker and since her Medicare provided it they will not supply another one for her. Like many of our elders, she has a very limited income and cannot afford another. All of this could have been avoided if the phony assistance would have bothered to mention the $35 fee.

Now I am still trying to find someone at GH to complain to but have yet to get through to anyone. Greyhound really sucks!!!
