In April (2007) I contacted Gridley Police to report a man assaulting me. The man who assaulted me, and his friends, lied to idiot Officer James Roberts by falsely accusing me of committing a crime. I was arrested by Officer Roberts. I later found out through a court declaration written by Joe Duran of Gridley, a real jerk who will be written about in another report, that Officer Roberts told Mr Duran that the charges would probably never stick, and that he'd arrest me just to get me to leave. I was the one who called the cops. I had left. I only returned because the dispatcher asked me to return to the scene and identify the man who assaulted me, Brad Cramer of Oroville (Ca).
While I was at the police department, handcuffed, I kept begging Officer James Roberts to allow me to call my mother. I explained to him that my elderly mother was ill and was expecting a call from me. Officer Roberts kept refusing. He kept threatening to take me to jail. I was later released and cited after he talked to my police sgt brother. After reviewing the case, the District Attorney's Office declined to file charges against me. Officer Roberts, whose been a police officer with Gridley for approximately 14 years, is still a patrol officer. I guess it makes him feel important to bully people he arrests.
Approximately 4 months ago I filed a complaint against Officer James Roberts with Assistant Police Chief Brian Cook. I kept trying to follow up on my complaint but Mr Cook just ignores my complaint. It shouldn't take 4 months to investigate a complaint. Assistant Chief Brian Cook is just covering up for one of his officers. He has never contacted me once to discuss my complaint. He's just as corrupt as his officer. The above is my opinion and recollection of the events that happened.

Suggestion: Let's Replace Gridley Police With Butte County Sheriff's

We should replace Gridley (California) Police with Butte County Sheriff's. Butte County Sheriff's are professional, well trained, and a credit to Butte County. Gridley Police are officer's in a small hick town who think they're important. They're not important enough to be security guards. They're corrupt and crooked. I called Gridley Police to report a man assaulting me. I told the man, in an attempt to get him to back off, "My brother's a cop", which is true. Officer James Roberts arrested me for impersonating a cop because he falsely accused me of saying "I'm a cop". Officer Roberts then refused to let me file a complaint against the man who assaulted me. I then filed a complaint against Officer Roberts. Gridley Assistant Police Chief Brian Cook just ignored my complaint. Gridley Police are a waste of taxpayers money. Butte County Sheriff's would have handled the situation correctly. Only an a--hole cop on a power trip would arrest someone on a BS impersonating a cop charge and ignore assault and battery.

When Oroville resident Brad Cramer was assaulting me I yelled "My brother's a cop" in order to get him to back off. The statement is true. My brother is a cop. Brad, fellow Oroville resident Tim Rose, Gridley resident Joe Duran, and Butte County Deputy Jack Berry, who was off duty at the time, all lied and told Officer James Roberts that I said "I'm a cop". Officer Roberts falsely arrests me for impersonating a police officer and does nothing to the man who assaulted me. Apparently Officer Roberts feels impersonating a police officer is a more serious crime than assault.

I wanted to add: What really angered me about this incident was my elderly mother being ill and expecting a call from me, and Officer James Roberts refusing me a quick call to check on her. My mother could have been dying and Officer Roberts would not have cared. He thinks he's super cop, but the truth is he's just a scumbag patrol officer in a little hick town. And that's my opinion.
