Purchased a 2002 jeep Cherokee on March 23, 2013 and 7 days later the motor blew up in the car due to it was not serviced as advertised in the ad. I had taken the car back to the dealer as required on March 31, 2013. They looked at the car and told me to bring it back the following Wednesday. The motor blew up as I was driving on the interstate on the same night, March 30, 2012. I then had it towed to my house and had all the fluids checked in the car. None of them had been changed as advertised.
The car had thrown a rod due to there was no oil in the car prior to them selling it to me. I then had to pay again to have the car towed from my house to the dealer. They stated that they did not have a tow truck but would have their mechanics look at the car and call me back. I have not received one phone call from them. It is now a week later and still no phone call from anyone at the dealer. I called them several times everyday and finally asked to speak to the owner. I have yet to hear back from him.
Everytime I call, the salesman tells me that the owner is is on the way to the dealership and that he will ahve him acll me back. After no callback, I call back several times and everytime, the owner is conveniently on the way or gone out to get something to eat. After getting the run around for over a week, I go up to the dealership to try to talk to them. Now all of a sudden, the owner is conveniently out of town and the salesman states he cannot contact him. I am angry at this point and demand my 2500.00 down payment back.
I notice that the salesman is conveniently recording our conversation without telling me. Now all of a sudden the salemans is able to contact the owner on the phone. At first they tell me they want another 750.00. They then tell me they want another 500.00. Then they tell will buy a motor for the car and finance it and add it to the amount already financed. I ask him why should I give them any more money for a car that they claim they service and it never was causing the motor to blow up.
I ask that they put the 2500.00 downpayment towards a new car to try to work something out with them and they refuse that also. They are only interested in getting more money from me. I refuse to give them any more money and tell them that I want a refund of my 2500.00 which they refuse. They now have the car and my 2500.00 downpayment in their possession and I am out of my hard earned money.
Some one should really investigate this company for shady business practices. I have filed a complaint with the BBB. Also, I just noticed that the odometer reading dealer's reassignment of title dated May 23, 2013 is less that the odometer reading 03/12/13, the last time the care was inspected. I suspect they have turned back the odometer reading to reflect less mileage. This is a federal crime and I have hired a lawyer to get a refund of the money paid to them.

Yes, I did check for oil on the interstate at. The tow truck driver and myself checked for it at the time the car was moved and there was none on the ground anywhere in site.

"Inadvertantly typed in wrong date"
So it's also possible the dealer inadvertently typed in the wrong odometer reading.
"The motor blew up as I was driving on the interstate... No oil leaked out of the car when it threw the rod."
Did you go back to the interstate and check for oil? Good point Jim, there is no way of knowing the oil level at the time of purchase.
You didn't check the fluids until after the car broke down. That was a bit late.

I checked the oil and all the other fluids after I had it towed back to my house after breaking down. There was very little oil on the dipstick and it was as black as tar. Also checked the other fluids and none of them had been changed either. No oil leaked out of the car when it threw the rod. The tow truck driver and myself checked underneath the car on the ground to see if any had leaked out and there was non. So, there was no oil in the car to begin with.

One BIG Question!

You stated, and I quote: "there was no oil in the car prior to them selling it to me". How do you know that? I suspect your answer to that question might be "I checked the oil at the dealership and there was no oil on the dipstick." OK, good. That's exactly what you should have done! If that was the case, why did you proceed with the test driver and purchase? You did a test drive, right?

The odometer reading from the Mar 13, 2013 is higher that the odometer reading from the bill of sale date Mar 23, 2013. hence, odometer tampering.

makes no sense

"May 23, 2013 is less that the odometer reading 03/12/13"
That is not possible because today is 4/6/13.
