Michael Gawler sent a technician out to my Property in December of 2013 to install an alarm panel, four door contacts and two Motion Detectors; and a Smoke Detector that was around Seventy Something Dollars.  I do have the receipt of what I spent that day.

The Technician told me he "this is my first install."  I am single, and had told Mr Gawler it was "Imperative" that my Alarm was Working before I left out of town for the Christmas Holidays the day before Christmas and not returning for a Month.

 The First Technician was in my home for Eight Hours !  I thought he would never leave and wondered why they sent someome totally "New" to the business alone without support.

 I left to go out of town three hours away, thinking my alarm was working because the ONE Door I use made the alarm go on and off when set.

While at my Daughter's home in the Raleigh NC Area , thinking the Alarm was so good and working I recommended and had an alarm installed in HER Home too, with Guard Me Security.  A Big Mistake

I can back one month later and using that Same One Kitchen Door only when setting the alarm to leave the property, did this for about four months thinking my alarm, contacts and smoke detector were working the entire time.

One day in April of 2013 I had my alarm set and went to another door to open it to let my dogs out.  This was a one time thing where I had this door open with the alarm set by mistake (I was not leaving my property).

The alarm did not go Off at all.  So I reset the alarm and tested all of the other doors, Nothing worked with the exception of the One Kitchen Door this whole time.

I proceeded to set all the Alarm Contacts to "Away" along with the alarm to test the alarm and whenI walked through the Living Room Where the Contacts would go off If anyone entered the property while I was away, No Alarm Went Off.  I emailed Michael Gawler Right Away.

Mr Gawler had been rather pushy wanting me to write "good reviews" since the beginning of the install, so I did make some good comments on Facebook and Twitter, I think; when I thought my alarm Was Working.

When I found out that it wasn't you can see that I never wrote a Review on Angie's List for this Reason.

Michael Gawler continued to make me feel as if I had made some mistake because the alarm contacts and door contacts were not working , as he asked me repeatedly over the next month if I was setting the alarm and contacts, waiting 15 minutes then coming back into the property to see if they worked when I walked through the living room etc

I have had this same type of alarm with another company for 15 years, so I am very familiar with how the process works--however at least the other alarm companies Central Montoring Station is OPEN 24/7 !  How can a company Monitor Homes when they are "closed" for the weekend like Guard Me's Monitronics.

Mr Gawler finally sent someone out from Raleigh NC to fix the alarm.  It took hom 30 minutes and he can testify that the alarm was not working and that only One door went off when the alarm was set and that no contacts worked at all.

I have 5 Doors !

I asked Michael Gawler for a four month refund for about three to four months in the Spring of 2013, he would make jokes and say something silly.  I have emails proving this.  He never "Did Anything."

Finally I gave up on the four month refund, after the Eight Hour Install..since the Alarm was finally working as I could not get Mr Gawler to DO Anything, he continued to Ignore my request or Joke about them.

This past fall, I noticed one of my Dogs Barking Incessently from about August of 2014 to December 2014. I have had this Dog ( a Yorkie) since 2006 and he has NEVER done this before.  Each morning about the same time he would just "go crazy" as if something was "signaling him" or making him bark.  It was very Disturbing and sometimes early in the morning.  Dogs can hear things that people cannot.  I knew something was wrong and had has "some" issues with another alarm company and my Dog jumping a bulkhead and into the water in the Night "Luring Him".  The Same Dog, different scenario.  Each time the Dog nad NEVER acted this way.

The alarm in the meantime started "beeping" intermittently throughout this past fall while the Dog was Barking Strangly each and every Morning about the same time, waking me up every day and insisting that I run Down the Stairs and To the Door to let him out.  It really was obnoxious and very strange and the bark was  "Strange" and "very Loud"--I had been on the phone with Monitronics three times trying to get this straight (during the week).

On one of those phone calls Monitronics told me my "smoke detector" was not working and had never worked. By this time my alarm was a year old and my Smoke Detector (something I had to purchase separately) never worked once.

 

I thank him for telling me this , or I never would have known.

Then One weekend my alarm beeped incessently all weekend.  It was the Weekend before this last Christmas , I was trying desperately to get out of town again and on time to a family function.

The beeping started in the wee hours of Saturday am and then in the very wee hours of Sunday am around 3:00 am.  I ran down the stairs, it was dark and I was half asleep the beeping is Loud and Aggrivating and will not allow you to sleep.

My Floor is Uneven from some Unfinished Flooring Work at my Alarm KeyPad, being in a rush to stop the beeping in the middle of the night I fell (the house was dark) at my alarm keypad and "bruised a rib."  I did show this to my doctor when I was there on December 31 as I was Unable to Move my Left Arm for three weeks and was afraid I had Cracked a Rib.  We talked of an X-Ray and I decided to give it a couple of weeks.  Finally after a month I was able to move my arm and my ribs stopped hurting.

 

I was late to my daughter's Christmas and had to pack my Car Christmas Eve in the middle of a "Tornado Warning" and Pounding Rain because I had to get some sleep from the alarm beeping the entire weekend.

 

When I called Monitronics the weekend before Christmas  that early Sunday Morning at 3:00 am, to stop the beeping which had already kept me up the night before there was no answer from the company. Their Voicemail Recording said they were "closed" and would be open Monday Morning at 9:00 am.

I was told to call this number if anyting was wrong, they were the monitoring company and Guard Me told me to call them.

They were also the ones who told me my smoke detector was not working , which I am so thankful for.

 

The Beeping would not stop, I was trying to get some sleep to get packed for Christmas and packages wrapped so that I could get out of town.  I had been up the night before with the beeping which finally subsided after about two hours, but this night in the early am, the beeping would Not Stop.  Monitronics would not answer and was not open.

I had to get some sleep, the alarm beeping had kept me up all weekend and it would not stop. Finally I got my baseball bat and hit the keypad to knock the alarm off the wall in an effort to stop the beeping, because I had tried everythig else !

How can a Monitoring company Monitor People's Alarms when they are not open?  Also How can a Security Company like Guard Me which is from New Jersey,  and the monitoring company from Texas know what's going on in North Carolina  where I live.

 

At the time of Purchase I thought Guard Me Security was a complete company meaning they Monitor their own customers like say CPI Security.  At least CPI Security does have it's own Monitoring Station and they ARE OPEN 24 hours, 7 Days a Week.  If there is an Emergency, they pick up the phone at 3:00 am.

This is not the Case with "Guard Me Security" and Guard Me Security did not make ANY of this known before Purchase.  I had no way of knowing this ahead of time when signing the contract.

I continued at this point to tell Michael Gawler what had happend , that he was lucky I had not cracked my Rib on the Fall, that my Smoke Detector had never worked since the install of December 2013 and this was December 2014 as well as the Alarm and Contacts and Motion Detectors not working for those four Months in the Spring.

I again tried to "get a four month refund" and for them to subtract whatever it was they had charged me for the year for Monitoring "smoke" as it has never worked.

 

My daughter's bill is about 10 dollars less than mine so I know there is some type of difference.   It would have been very easy for Mr Gawler to "fix" all of this,

yet he continued to do "Nothing" but say "We Want to help you, but you have to let us"  So four three months I paid for nothing as the alarm keypad was not on the wall and not working.

 

Finally I allowed Guard Me to send someone out to "fix" the issue as it was their fault, and so was the "bruised rib" in the middle of the night.

A technician named Fred came out.  Nice guy.  However, I told Michael Gawler what had happened several times making it very CLEAR what had happened and why with the keypad that early morning in December.

Fred proceeded to say there is no way I can fix this today and also proceeded to take pictures , which I did not appreciate and did not want him to do.

 

Michael Gawler knew, my Keypad had been knocked off the wall because of their beeping and that Monitronics was not open when I had tried to call for help and that I have bruised my Rib , and had had a Doctor look at it.

Gawler, came back with "You will have to pay 300.00 for a new keypad since you knocked it off the wall before we will install one.

This was in late February, I wa still paying for "nothing" and had never been reimbursed for anyting that I had asked for the year before when the alarm did not work "at all" nor had I been reimbursed anything towards my monthly bill from where the smoke detector had never worked.

On top of this, someone had been coming in my Home intermittently all through out the Fall of 2014.  Taking things, then replacing them later, moving things to a different location and other "crazymaking" things where I would have to look for my things over and over and find them days later.  I'm not saying I don't ever misplace things, but this was different like my Glasses were missing for about a month then reappeared. I traced all my steps and glasses are not something you misplace when you need them.  I had turned my house upside down for a month looking for them and they were nowhere to be found.  I didn't like knowing someone was coming in my home while I was gone and going through my things--this was going on while Guard Me's Alarm was "working."

 

I recently went to my daughter's in Holly Springs NC and kept my GrandBaby while she was out of town for a week.  The Same thing happend at her Home.  She has a Guard Me Alarm.  All Week someone was coming into the property and taking things like the TV Remote and putting it in the baby's toy box.

Also when I arrived at her home one Door was "Locked but ajar" and the Front Door Was Unlocked.

 

Her Boyfriend had taken her to the Airport and had assured me that all of her doors were locked when they left.

This made me uncomfortable from the get go.

On top of the fact that someone was entering the property and moving things around, taking and then replacing them. AGAIN just like here the CrazyMaking stuff.

Scary and ironic that there are "Guard Me Security Alarms" in both homes.

My Daughte does not want her alarm either.

 

I did write www.RipOffReport.com back in February and Guard Me Security did not "charge Me" for one month-though they did deduct my account for my daughter's alarm.

It's too early too see if they have deducted for this month yet.

I do not trust them to "Monitor" My Home or My Daughter's Home, and she doesn't want their product and does not use it.

I told her about the doors.  I did not tell her about my items disappearing then reapearing, but did tell her someone was coming in her home all the time.

 

My Dog that was Barking incessantly this past Fall when the Alarm was on the Wall and Working, immediately stopped the day the alarm was No Longer Working.

No More Barking, just like that.

Guard Me Security has not refunded the four months, has not reimbursed me anyting for the Smoke Detector not working and has done nothing but give me a hard time--Michael Gawler.

 

He is now tellling me that If I want out of my contract I will have to pay over two thousand dollars for the remaining 21 months.

I don't want his alarm at my home or at my Daughter's Home.

I DO NOT TRUST GUARD ME SECURITY, WHY SHOULD I ?

Mr. Gawler,

your First sentence saying the this is not "true" and implying that I am a "liar;" then remarking about the "bad report," is how you have treated me this entire year ( since this time last year).

First of all I am NOT a Liar and have No Reason to Lie!  Second of all you kee saying (and I have all of this in email form over the last year), "we want to help you but you have to let us;". Then you DO NOTHING .  This has been going on strike nice spring of 2014 and I am tired of you taking advantage of Me.  it would have been very "easy" for you to have refunded Four more months of Monitoring, and what you charged me monthly for a Non-a working Smoke Detector.  I did not ask for a refund for the smoke detector itself.  Yet you have REFUSED, for a year!

i am tired of the hassle and your "salesman's mouth" that is "all talk and no action."  The reviews on Angie's List for Monitronics speak for themselves!  However, in this instance Guard Me is to blame most for "lack of action and attention."  You sent someone out here once, when I told you the truth about what had happened to the keypad and why, he took pictures and fixed Nothing!  Then you have told me I would have to pay 300. for a New Keypad.  when selling an "alarm" system it is "deceptive" not  to inform ahead of time that a Guard Me neither Installs or Monitors their own alarms.

Nor does Guard Me send their own Techs out to fix the alarms.  nine of what I said is a Lie, Mr Gawler!

i hope other people don't fall for your "all talk and No Action Mouth!"

all you care about is "Your REVIEWS"  what do you do ?  Pay People to write them for you, this is your own only concern, other than holding me to your contract!

All you had to do this time last year was refund a little money for products that don't work, or were not working at that time. You gave me the run-a-round and have never stopped!

I have been with my "other" a Alarm Company for 15, that's FIFTEEN Years !  There was only an issue in Coastal NC because they have ONE Rech who services this entire area.  I would have been much better to just have stayed with CPI after what you are putting me through!

Personally, I am so sick of Alarm Companies and their deceptive Practices (like you) that I don't know if I ever want another home alarm!  Your whole industry needs a good investigation on your deceptions and how you take advantage of people you are supposed to be Protecting  starting with YOU!

I am tired of you harassing me when it would have been SO EASY for you to have done the "right thing"-yet you refused and I am sick of this year long battle with you from this time last year! 

I urge people

to pay attention to this message and steer clear of you!!!  That is what this is tor to "warn" others about the truth to you and your business practices.

i have all the proof I need in email form in communications directly from me to you and vice versa.  I have no idea what you are talking about with the local Police, one just helped me get into my home after I had locked myself out recently and he was new, and very good!

my complaint is with YOU Specifically and Guard Me Security   Why should I Trust You if you won't do even the smallest things to make things right 

if I have to end up "paying You" for the rest of the contract period-- YOUR ALARM WILL NOT BE IN MY HOME Regardless!  Because I DO Not TRUST You for My Safety or for my Daughters safety!!

i do not do business with people who claim to "protect me" while they take advantage of me!  You know that I Lost my Mother recently, I do not appreciate ANY of what you are saying or what you are doing!  You are the Liar!

We are sorry that you felt the need to post your negative feelings on this website.  I/we have tried and would continue to try and make this situation right for you.  Our company has proivided several free service visits only to find nothing wrong each time.  The only time there was anything wrong is when you actually smashed and damaged the keypad.  I am however very confidant that our existing and potential cllients are smart enough to read this post and understand that this is not an accurate portrayal of myself or our company. 

In fact, we are not the first alarm company that you have blammed for the bizarre events that apparently happen to you.  I have documented this case for over a year and have several long rambling emails blaming everyone from your previous alarm provider to the actual police dept in your city. 

When you first contracted with our company, in Dec of 2013, you made it clear that you had similar feelings against CPI which was your existing provider.  You even thanked me several times for assisting you with the nightmare you claimed they were putting you through.  I now understand that the issue was not so one sided.  

Nevertheless, I still want to assist you, which as you pointed out in your post, I have offered several times.  You are never available to talk and respond to emails weeks later.  Let us know when you are available to speak so that we can schedule the service you need to get your system back up and running.  

Again, our company has made several attempts to correct your self inflicted service issue but you have not been available to get this completed.  We maintain the highest level of service and certainly do not agree with your false claims against myself, our company, or the monitoring company.  The ongoing slander is not appreciated and our eager attempts to provide continued service should be noted.
