This review is based on verifiable facts. However, every fact has two sides to a story. As a consumer, you should research any business involving large money investments or any expenditures. With Motorheads Performance, Leesville, Texas, please be diligent. Make sure you receive an estimate from this business prior to any work commencing.  Then make sure you check the quality of the work you requested and prior to paying for the work. You may be billed, as I was, for parts pickup (several times over), research for parts, ordering parts, additional fees for pickup of parts, and "design fees." For example, if a small metal mount has to be fabricated, you will be charged a "design" fee. I had similar items fabricated by a welding shop and there was no design fee and the price was significantly lower. You may find your invoices skyrocketing with business owners Guy Algar and Andrea White aka  Motorheads Performance. The business owner(s) are allegedly not certified ASE mechanics, they are not a certified I-Car paint shop, and they are not a certified engine machine shop. The latter certifications are desired standards in the auto repair and auto restoration business. The shop is located out in the middle of farm and ranch country on a country road. This country road is on the outskirts of the small town of Nixon, Texas. The last time I visited this business, there was no business sign. Motorheads Performance is run out of the owner's garage on his residential property. Apparently there are other internet businesses also run by Guy Algar and Andrea White via various internet websites. Please check Scorpio Design Services to verify my statements at www.scorpiodesignservices.com. Motorheads Performance claim in newspaper advertisements and related media, that they are a full service trailer repair shop. Additionally, they claim they provide the following services: Business Management and Design Services, Internet Hosting Services, Website Development, Design Services, and so forth. This is in addition to trailer repair and auto restoration services? Motorheads Performance also claim in newspaper advertisements and related media, that they are a full service trailer repair shop. However, when they bill you for several parts pick up charges, they then tell you they are no longer a full service shop and so you must incur their charges for travel to pick up basic parts like nuts and bolts. For example, you may be charged $35.00 to pick up bolts or other fasteners. Guy Algar is a Mechanical Engineer. However, allegedly he is not an ASE mechanic, and he is not a renowed auto restoration expert. There are distinctions between a Mechanical Engineer and a certified auto restoration and auto mechanic. Andrea White apparently is a management and marketing professional, as stated in their websites. However, Motorheads also claim she is a technician currently repairing automobile transmissions. Repairing transmissions is a complex area involving extensive training. Both Guy Algar and Andrea White indicate on their websites, self-authored articles, and their own blogs that they have years of experience in trailer repair and automotive restorations. Guy Algar apparently also fixes farm equipment ? Check the facts and ask for proof. Caveat: Please compare estimates to other businesses. Other businesses may not charge you to research parts and hourly rates to order parts. I had to negotiate a settlement with this business via small claims court. I had estimates from three other businesses pertaining to the labor charge Motorheads planned to charge me. In each instance, Motorheads were at least 50 percent more than comparable repair businesses.

In short=Caveat emptor!

Guy Algar and Motorheads Performance= Inaccurate Website Information

AUTHOR: Almost Duped - (USA)

Guy Algar and Andrea White allegedly have inaccurate information on their website at www.motorheadsperformance. com. This has been confirmed by several companies that Guy Algar and Motorheads claims he is certified by.

Can a company listing inaccurate information on their website be trusted to provide accurate facts about their qualifications? If you call the companies that Guy Algar and Motorheads Performance indicate they are certified by, you may find the companies deny this fact or advise you a certain program no longer exists (yet is still displayed on Motorheads Performance's website). If the facts placed on Guy Algar's and Andrea White's website are inaccurate, embellished, or display alleged false advertising, then how do you trust the rest of this company.

Guy Algar is not a certified mechanic or certified anything according to various companies that he lists on his website at www.motorheadsperformance. Guy is not a certified installer by companies he lists on his website. You can confirm the latter statement by calling JC Whitney, LaSalle, Illinois or Ecklers Corvette Parts, Titusville, Florida. Guy Algar is not a certified ASE Mechanic. Guy Algar allegedly is a guy who decided to open up an auto restoration shop with no certified qualifications in any automotive field. If you feel comfortable with this, then hire Guy Algar to restore or repair your classic auto or other project. If you are comfortable with Guy Algar "liberally using words" to indicate he is "Certified" by companies listed on his website, then that is a choice you make as a consumer. Just call the companies on his website that he states have certified him. For example, ask the companies if Guy Algar is a certified installer for example. Listen carefully to the company's response. And, don't be surprised by the responses you receive.

If an individual claiming to be certified by a company, is found to be either embellishing words or outright fabricating statements on their website, can you trust them to work on your classic car?

The point of this commentary and review of Motorheads Performance is to be an informed consumer. Make informed choices based on available information. Remember, in Texas, any Guy can open up an automotive repair shop or auto restoration shop. There are no certifications or licenses required. There is no agency to advocate for you. Therefore, check the facts I have outlined herein.

Guy Algar and Motorheads Performance will probably not address the issues

AUTHOR: Almost Duped - (USA)

Addendum to Guy Algar and Motorheads Performance, Leesville, Texas Review.

When and if Guy Algar responds to my Ripoff Report dated April 28, 2011, he will probably state that he first filed suit on me for not paying his trumped up charges. The facts will indicated I sued Guy Algar and Motorheads on or about October 25, 2010 for lack of specific performance and reasonable repair fees. Guy Algar then countersued. However, the central issues are the following:

A. Guy Algar, Andrea White, and Motorheads Performance are allegedly not certified in any automotive repair, auto restoration, auto engine rebuilding, or auto painting. They apparently have attended few, if any, auto restoration courses, seminars, or other skill enhancing training. This may or may not be important to you.

B. Guy Algar will state that Corvette Fever Magazine rated their "shop" (see description of Guy Algar's shop in paragraph C below) as a recommended repair shop. Here are the real facts:

-- Corvette Fever Magazine is now out of business

-- Corvette Fever Magazine did not visit, inspect, or confirm Guy Algar's training, facilities, or equipment. Guy Algar and Motorheads were apparently recommended by "anonymous" letters written to the former editor of this magazine.

-- Guy Algar's "shop" is located at his residential property located out in the country or farmland near the small Texas town of Nixon, Texas. The last time I visited Motorheads Performance, there was no sign and I passed by the small winding country road where Guy Algar's "shop" is located.
Guy Algar, claiming he is the "Shop Manager" of his garage, uses his small open lean-to garage as his shop. I visited this shop during a five month time period. During that time period, I did not see any new automobiles that were being restored. The old truck in his garage was exposed to the weather and the garage was not enclosed.

- Ask to see Guy Algar's certifications in any automotive mechanic field. He will tell you he is an Engineer. Allegedly, he was an Engineer out in the Northeast section of the country. He then purchased acerage in Leesville, Texas and claimed he was an experienced automotive restoration
professional?  Ask to see this business' credentials and training.

- Andrea White, Guy Algar's "partner", also claims she repairs automobile transmissions. However, her work background appears to be in medical administration and marketing. Ask Ms. White to furnish her training in the complicated field of automotive transmission repair ?

- Andrea White and Guy Algar also appear in another website and offering services in other fields. For example, check out via a Google search "Scorpio Design Services, Leesville, Texas." After you read that website and read all the fields these individuals market themselves as (via the internet) you may scratch you head and wonder what exactly are they trained in and can perform what services for the consumer?

I write this review to alert consumers. I did settle with Guy Algar and Motorheads. The settlement included them receiving approximately one thousand dollars less than what they attempted to place on their inflated invoices and without my prior authorized approval.

In sum, Caveat Emptor!
