I worked for H.J.Martin at a medical building in the fox valley as a sheetrocker and framer. What i saw in this building was how the drywall finisher did there job. The tapers that H.J.had on this jobwould just tape over big holes in the walls without even putting any prefill mud in the hole and on some of the walls they wouldn't even have tape over the joints they covered with mud. The finshed job looked bad. I do not know where they got the tapers to do this job but I wouldn't have those guys do any kind of taping anywhere. So if you want a bad looking job just call H.J.Martin of Green bay.

Who is Albert?

AUTHOR: EDWARD - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 07, 2004

Unfortunately, I have yet to find any validity in your claims. Obviously, you are the same person using many different names to post your issues against HJ Martin & Son, Inc. Albert (if that is your name) you do not work at IEI, nor did IEI have to go to Copper Leaf Hotel in Appleton to repair a soffit. That has been verified directly with IEI.

Again, I ask you to not hide behind fictitious names and make false accusations about my company. In any publications, claims made must have the author's real name and address so that the truth is forced and reputations are not tarnished.

I am asking you one more time to stop taking the cowardly approach and come forward. I would like your real name, address and phone number. I need to speak to you about these allegations. It is quite obvious to anyone that you must be a disgruntled employee, and I would like to resolve any outstanding issues that you may have. Posting incorrect statements on a website is not the way to handle this situation.

A two way street...

AUTHOR: Darren - (U.S.A.)

Hi All,
There are a few points that come to mind with this report.

1) Unions used to have training processes and methods of ranking their members. It was a craft and along with the rank and pay came the responsibilities of maintaining levels of professionalsim.

A professional/master didn't require supervision, as a matter of fact, that person was the supervisor of the less trained people working under them. It was a matter of pride.

Shoddy work did neither the union or the employer any good. Without a reputation for doing excellent work the employer and the union was out of business.

If you people worked for a company and you noticed substandard work why didn't you immediately bring it up? Did you feel comfortable with your union and with H J Martin to do that?

Professionalism often means taking risks, but it is the satisfaction of doing a good job and the best that you can that makes it so worthwhile. If you are rejected then that wouldn't be a company that you would want to work for anyway. Is it?

I am sure that you would eventually end up with a company that had the same level of standards that you do.

2) Edward, instead of dismissing these reports out of hand I hope that a more proactive approach is being used. Reputation is everything.

Not only with the public, but also with the workers. If there is an occasional check it shows the less than professionals that they aren't going to get away with it... and for the professionals, it shows that your company is one that they can feel free to report this to.

Ever wonder why they say that the NCO's are the backbone of the military? Because they have the knowledge, experience and the caring to make sure that things are done right. They are not going to let anything be done by the people that they supervise that would reflect poorly on them or their organization.

This one is really one of the easiest reports that I have seen on this website.

Thanks,

I worked for H.J.Martin a few years ago but I am working for I E I construction co. now. I have been working at the Copper leaf hotel in appleton removing a soffit that fell down cause H.J. Martin's so called skilled carpenters did not secure it good enough. The new one will be secured using the correct fasteners and material.

Edward you should get out of your office and check your skilled labor once in a while. You also stated that your so called skilled labor installs by the U S G handbook maybe it would be nice if they could read it cause most of them can't read. I saw what kind of work H.J.Martin can do and i also saw what kind of work other company's do like Appleton Latheing and there is no match to appleton lathe. So like tom said if you want a bad looking job call H.J.Martin
