2 years ago, we purchased a HP Laptop (Pavilion) for our son, then graduating from High school on his way to the University of Washington. Over the past two years he has had quite a few issues with this computer, and recently just had the mother board go out. We have since placed numerous calls to HP regarding this issue, on the advice of our repair man. The repair shop told us that HP issued a recall for these computers, due to defective manufacturing related to the motherboard. To date we have spoken to a tech in the Philippines, a customer service rep (location?), a case manager, back to the Philippines, and executive customer relations to whom referred us back to the tech in the Philippines. The end result is we fall short by 2 month of this recall date. Supposedly we received notification in our email, but "it prob went to junk mail" according to the executive customer service rep. So here sits my son, who is responsibly attending college, without an essential tool for his education. We paid over $900 dollars for this machine...we are a hard working blue collar family that expects a computer to last a little longer than 2 years! We will never buy another HP Computer and recommend that you do your homework before making that choice for yourself!
