H & R Block - Margaret, (Marge) Manager... BEWARE H&R Block; Preparer made significant error, costing us $1384.87. Won't honor Peace of Mind Guarantee. Keeps giving run around. Colorado Springs CO

Their poorly trained tax preparers made a significant error in our taxes,(by inputting the wrong numbers in the wrong blocks), costing us $1384.47 and they failed to file the required claim to honor their Peace of Mind Guarantee. The IRS has sent us numerous letters, all of which we have taken straight into H&R, only to get the run around.. It has now been 2 years and we are still trying to get it resolved!!! They keep telling us to just pay it and they will eventually reimburse us; we refused to do that!. We would go in to the local office and sit for an hour or more each time, waiting for her to use her "special" number to get ahold of the IRS - she would hang up the phone after minutes stating that the wait to get through to the IRS was too long;

So, one day while sitting there with her, I took initiative and called the same number and made it through in just 7 minutes! I put the phone on speaker, as we listened together to the IRS rep stating what was wrong and what needed corrected. I watched her take our paperwork and shove it in another folder and say that she would fax everything. This has been the same situation (over and over and over) for 2 years now. They always suggest the same thing: sending an amendment...but obviously the first 10 amendments (all of which were the same, did NOT work!!). The IRS has now taken the money from us and now it is even more difficult to get anyone to help.

Marge dodges my calls and tries to schedule me to come in weeks later..and when I say NO and tell her I am on my way right then, she leaves the office before I can get there!. We are just trying to get our money back. We know it was THEIR error, as acknowledged by Marge when the IRS rep stated that numbers were not entered correctly. We paid for the Peace of Mind guarantee to protect us but when it comes down to it, that guarantee is just an extra way for them to get more money from you. BEWARE. Now, I googled to find out what else we can do and sure enough, there are hundreds of complaints from others that have gone through this :( We need a class action law-suit.
