Approximatly 1.5 months ago when I moved to this town, I went into half Price Books. We were told by an employee that no pictures were allowed, though we were not taking them. Soon after we were asked to leave the store very rudely by an employee named Mike. I asked if he treated all his customers this way and he said "no just you," and then I mentioned customers are usually right. He responded "Well in this case I believe my co worker".

I decided I had enough and took it higher to his boss and that was someone named Scott.I went back to the store and spoke with Scott and I believe David, I was told the situation had been handled and I was welcome to come back, they were sorry the way the employess treated us.

Now tonight, February 10, 2007 I sent my sister in to shop for me, I had just suffered a miscarriage and needed to rest. She went in with my son, nephew and a friend of hers. As the browsed around the store, they were confronted by an employee named Dillian that asked them to leave. My sister headed to find my son and nephew, when Dillain got in my sons face and said in a loud domineering tone "GET OUT", looked at my nephew and did the same. They were shocked that someone of that age would be told to get out, mind you my child is 13 and my nephew is 11.How rude and unacceptable!

When they got home, I called the store and asked what had happened and Dillian told me that we were given a hand written statement saying we were banned from the store and he had told my sister that before. I told him that I was never given that nor was my sister or her friend. He then changed his story and said "oh that is right, well we will sure give you one now"

It makes no sense to me to be treated this way. Dillian also replied that I couldn't have spoken to Scott, that there was no Scott there. Later he said he would not tell me Scott's hours because it was not my buisness and I didn't need to involve him.

They have to give you a CRIMINAL TRESPASS WARNING in the presence of a PEACE OFFICER

AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 30, 2008

If the place is open to the public, then they have to serve you.

Your story is a bit disjointed but it is basically none of my business.

Either the employess there APPEAR to be little Hitlers in training OR there is something there that is not quite right in someone's perception.

Nonetheless, if the manager tells you you have to leave and you don't, then he can call a cop or a county sheriff's deputy depending on if the business is in the city limits or not.

If he tells you in the presence of the cop that you have to leave and you don't THEN and ONLY THEN can you be arrested for CRIMINAL TRESPASS and it is just a Class C misdemeanor here where I am.

This just does not make sense because if he put something down on paper, you handle it carefully and take it to an attorey and I think you have a defamation case against this person.

Was there a racial, color, ethnic component here? Were these people of a different race or religion than you and your family?

WHY EVEN BOTHER TO SHOP HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE!
I don't think we got the complete story here.

THEY DON'T WANT YOU THERE THEN DON'T SHOP THERE AND TELL ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS...

Two things that are strange about this post. The part about being told by an employee that no pictures were allowed. There had to have been a reason for the employee to believe "someone" was taking pictures. "Though WE were not taking them". Was somebody else "taking them"? Why would anyone want to take pictures at a bookstore? If anyone came into my shop and took pictures, without my authorization, I'd throw them out too. Secondly, to be banned from a store, you have to have done something to merit such an action. I guarantee there's more to this story. It just doesn't add up.
