I purchased materials from Hancock Lumber Company to construct a home which included wall panels built by the company in their onsite panel shop that are defective and/or not according to the plans.  As a result of the defective wall panels, none of the exterior doors could/can be installed properly because of warped or out of square openings.  I also have issues with some of my windows for the same reason as well as bowed exterior & interior walls.  The manafactur of the doors, windows,and an Engineering firm have confirmed the problem exists and is real, not to mention visible to the eye. I received 2 dog house style dormers as opposed to an A frame dormer per the plan. The salesman, Larry O'dell mis- ordered them  & told me it would take 6 weeks to get an A frame dormer because "the panel shop was backed up". Construction was already behind several months because Hancock Lumber failed on several occassions to furnish Code Enforcement of the City of Portland  plans that met code.

Company also engaged in unfair business practices by failing to honor price matching as promised, failed to provide all invoicing as promised and dismissed me when I asked for a contract.  They "Now" say they could not because the account was in the builders name, however; I specified “upfront” I would be paying for all materials with checks drawn from my bank and it was agreed by Larry O'dell I was the customer and would get the smae pricing as builder. Company did accept all checks and did cash them.

They initially responded by “hiring” a carpenter to correct the defects. The carpenter refused to finish the work because he could not do the work properly because of the way the wall panels were built.  He felt “disgusted” that Hancock Lumber was well aware of the problem and stated “they are going to blow you off”. I also was forced to accept a front door unit because the salesman mis-ordered it twice and refused to re-order another one. Hancock Lumber and their employees bullied, lied, engaged in unfair trade practices and did it without regard.

I have PLEADED with Hancock Lumber  to take my concerns seriously.Kevin Hancock, Company president, laughed and stated “that’s not going to happen while I was pleading with him to correct the problems.  Most recently, his attorney has contacted me and the results have proved fruitless, and and arrogantWhen i asked for an update after furnishing him the engineering report and a letter dated 4/23/09. The attorneys response was "what is it, exactly, that is you offer for a resolutation" I wonder if the Attorney,  Hancock Lumber, Larry O'dell or any other person that was ripped off would expect any less than PEPAIR, PEPLACE, REFUND???? Haven't heard from him since I emailed him the aformentioned on 1/31/11.

Hancock Lumber/ Kevin Hancock, "PLEASE" do the right thing and take care of your problem...................This has been going on since 2006!!!!!
