I went to the newly-opened Hangers Cleaners in the Bank of America plaza in Round Rock, Texas hoping to find a dry cleaner that was close to my favorite lunch spot and place of work. After the treatment there, I will NEVER return and HIGHLY recommend using another dry cleaner instead.

I had 11 items dry cleaned. I dropped off 9 on Friday during my lunch and was told to return on Monday to get them. During that trip, I dropped off 2 other items. Their prices and an itemized description follow:

1 women's suit, white -- $12.20
1 women's coat, purple -- $6.55
2 dress shirts from cache -- $5.49
1 shirt from cache with "decorative hooks" -- $6.49
1 cashmere sweater -- $7.80
1 angora sweater -- $9.80
1 orange strappy shirt -- $5.99
1 baseball jersey -- approx. $4.50
1 pink sweater -- approx. $7.50

TOTAL: OVER $80.00!!!

Hangers in Round Rock does not give you an itemized breakdown of prices. I had to ask the manager for a breakdown (my boss will not reimburse otherwise) on the first order, and the assitant was unable to give me a breakdown on the last two items.

All of the items were still FILTHY. The white suit had many regular dirt stains on it that I was able to get out with some gentle rubbing with toilet paper and water. The purple coat had food stains that came out with some light rubbing and water.

The sweaters smell TERRIBLE -- like they weren't even touched. The cashmere sweater has noticeable pilling, and there are still deodorant marks on every shirt.

The pink sweater has strings dangling from one sleeve; it was not brought in that way -- in fact, it had only been worn twice before.

The items from the first order were promised to be ready on Monday. When I went in on Monday, they were not ready, and I was told to return on Tuesday. When I returned on Tuesday during my lunch, I was told to return after 3.

That makes 3 unneccesary trips to the dry cleaner, late laundry, and clothes that aren't clean!

When I approached the manager about all of this, she, first of all, claimed that the clothes were ready on time. She told me that I had a horrible attitude and informed me that she had reviewed the store's security tapes and did not want to deal with me but would "make me happy because I was her customer -- if I developed a better attitude."

I told her that, with statements such as those, she would not retain my business. At that point, she said, "fine then!" and she proceeded to THROW THE CLOTHES AT ME that I brought in for an example!

I informed her that my usual cleaner gets all of the stains out and does so for cheaper. Her reply: "Good luck with that."

Although I'm tempted to call my credit card company and dispute the charges, I'm classier than that. Instead, I want to warn everyone not to use this dry cleaners. Now, I have to pay for this terrible mistake AND pay to get all of the clothes cleaned again professionally.

Summary: don't use the Hangers Cleaners in Round Rock, Texas. Save the money and spritz your things with Febreeze insead -- they'll smell better and will look the same.

#4 Consumer Suggestion

Go ahead and dispute the charge with your credit card company, by all means. They did a terrible job and failed to provide the service "contracted" for. They were rude and failed to attempt to redo the clothes to your satisfaction. The clothes weren't ready in a timely manner. One point, you should have asked, BEFORE you dropped off the clothes, how much it was going to cost you if prices weren't posted. But in this case, go ahead and dispute the charges and keep a copy of what you had to pay to get the clothes cleaned properly.
