What a shady group!!!! I probably should have known something was off, when I was asked by the salesman how much I thought I should pay for the windows...

First of all, they break their promies. Then, when you call for customer service, they are rude, disrespectful and hang up on you.

If you are stupid enough to buy from this place, you had better be prepared for them to take the money --- then run. And you'd better be prepared to spend a lot of time and hassle on the run around.

Also, I was told that their owner has many connections with the legal world, just in case. He wouldn't need lawyers if they would follow through on their promises and not treat people so disrespectfully.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Buyer Beware

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 09, 2009

Warren, MI,

I am an ex-employee of Hansons Windows and Siding. Actually, I was the Manager of one of their offices that used a different name which I am not going to provide. Let me fill you, along with other consumers, some of the tricks used by Hansons.

You mentioned that they asked you how much you should pay for the windows. Most of the time, they will say something like this, "We are running a cool promotion right now where you get two guesses on how much you think the windows will cost. If you come within $300, we will knock $300 off of the price". What they are doing there is finding out your price range. They know if they come within that range, they more than likely can sell you. If your low number is lower than the price they come up with, trust me, the salesperson will make sure he adds some money to the price. This is becasue the salesperson is on 100% commission. If they sell the product for more money than the companies 'par', this really adds to his/her commission.

Now, when you see an ad on television for $900 off of siding, $600 off of windows, etc....that is a joke. It is just a way for you to call their phone number so they can get you into their system. Once you are in there, watch out. They will call non-stop. Also, that $900 off only means that they add $900 to the price of the job before giving you a price. They then will take off the $900 taking it to the 'normal' number, which is roughly 50% higher than they can actually go. If a consumer does want to go with Hansons, take the original price they give to you and cut it in half. Beware of them calling the boss!! Another sales trick to make it look like he is working extra hard for you. The salesperson already knows where he can go with the price.

There are several other sales tactics used that would take me forever to write down. If anyone is interested, write me an email.
