Purchased an item using a 25% off coupon. Found it was defective so I returned it but they had no replacment so I got a refund however they would not issue another coupon for future use. In other words, I lost 25% value all because 1. they 1st item was junk and 2. item was out of stock. I wanted to purchase something else but did not because of this.

After all this, they give me a cust srv # that is useless. Its for tracking orders, etc and gives no option of speaking with anyone. All menus point to "see our website" when I finally got through to the order person, he told me to call the District Mngrs and gave me a number of the store I just came from! Another useless call!

Bottom line is:

  • Tools are generally junk. If you need a hammer of something simple, you might take a chance and save some money. If there is any complexity to them, forget it. Poor workmanship, poor design, sloppy manufacturing. I don't mean to generalize but China is known for the junk they produce. I have seen some halfway decent stuff come from China but never at Harbor Freight Tools.
  • They are so inidated with complaints, they choos to ignore rather than fix the problem. There is NO avenue to issue a complaint or to speak with anyone who cares.
  • Associates are poorly trained at customer service and give out incorrect information. In my case above, the associate spent 10 minutes telling me how they have a box of coupons that have been used and just could not re-issue one! Who cares? Just fix the problem and don't tell me all about what you can't do!!
  • If you take a chance and buy something, remember you will not get your coupon value back if you return the item. All the people I spoke to at the store and corporate level agree this is stupid, but failed to offer a resolution. No one truely thinks about the customer experience.

Whats your point?

Maybe you read it too fast or have a comprehension problem. I rec'd an exchange and never said I didn't. My only complaint was it costs me an additional $125 to buy the same item again (1st one defective, not my fault) because they can't give me my coupon back?? It shouldn't be the customers problem to scour the newspaper for another one, return trip, etc etc. when it was their fault to begin with! As I said to the "expert" below - just send me a $125 and we'll see who's whining now!

Glad to hear you love the quality. You didn't get that part either.

Next time try to read slower and understand what I'm saying without assuming and fabricating all sorts of non-relevant responses.

Get a real problem

The only thing stupid here is your inability to see the point of the post. I'm only asking for the same offer I had when I walked in the door, before I bought the defective product. Don't rant about other derogatory things as they do not apply. Your right about other readers and the fact that you miss the point. A simple discount should not take this level of effort nor should HF respond as they did.

If you really think I'm asking too much, then please write me a check for $125 because that's what I lost when the the "coupon" was not returned to me. We'll see who's a cheapskate now!

Are you really this stupid and self entitled?....

Their refund policy is that you aren't reimbursed more than you paid.  Also, they have coupons available in newspapers, magazines and flyers from the company.  You can just clip one of these and use it. They scan the coupons when you use them and they have to account for them in the till at the end of the day.  They just can't grab one and hand it to you.

Incidentally, Harbor Freight does, as do others, have some tools that can fail.  I have, however, found just the opposite.

I have one of their large drill presses, trim router, impact drill, Belt/disc sander, small belt sander, cut off tool, pipe threading set, tap and die set, plunge router and probably others I've forgotten to list.  I have had ZERO trouble with any of the tools.

I don't like the way the plunge router operates, it's too difficult to use in plunge mode, it's not smooth when lowering it but it runs and routs well.

Coupons...

Hey Eric your cheap is showing. You do realize that coupons are limited. Second you were given a refund on the price you paid. Just because you return a item DOESNT mean that you get a new coupon. It was redeemed on your original purchase. Your post just shows that youre a cheapskate. BOOHOO they didnt give you another coupon. Grow the hell up and deal. They DO NOT have to give you a FRESH coupon. As coupons are normally limited in time scale, they may not have had one to give. Youre stupidity is astounding. You do realize that EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO READS YOUR POST WILL SEE THE SAME THING!!! Youre just bitching because they DID NOT GIVE YOU YOUR WAY!!!

If you need a cookie and a glass of milk to make you feel better about the fact that youre cheap and borderline chronically stupid and self entitled, the kitchen is that way------>. No one OWES you a d**n thing. Not even if you bought something. Consumers like you are the reason WHY businesses no longer follow the mantra of the customer is always right. Ppl like you have lied, cheated, and bullshitted the companies to get thier way, reguardless of the costs to the business. If you REALLY wanted a coupon there were MANY other ways of obtaining one without having to post here. The main one would have been to contact customer service and instead of showing your a*s, you could have explained that you wanted to get some of your friends and family interested in that company and did they have any promo coupons you could give out.

See customers like you are the main reason they are no longer flexable. YOU think that by posting here youre going to get your way. All you have done is slammed the door in your own face due to your own inability to use critical thinking or work within the established system. YOU think yourself better then those that you have to deal with and you show it by posting negativly about a company that YOU went to with your hat in your hands BEGGING for a coupon.

Like they say, you really cant fix THIS level of stupid....
