Thank goodness I was too cautious and too angry over getting sucked into a scam. But I was lucky. I only lost the first $29. (At least so far---maybe I better keep a close eye on my statement) After feeling so lied to when I fell for the first scam, I said to myself "There is no way I am going to pay them more money---for What? More of the same?!!! I began trying to contact them immediately for a refund, but as other have noted, it was not easy.

I had paid by debit card, since I don't have a credit card. I went to the bank the next morning to see if they could stop payment, but they said it was too late. That is how mad I was. I was going to desperate means to try to stop this. A credit card would have been nice. I could have simply gotten online and clicked dispute.

After I found contact info., I called the # and got hold of a very nice sounding lady on the phone. Of course, I told her I was not happy with the program, and that I wanted a refund. I also told her that after I researched on the internet, I got the idea that others were having difficulty obtaining their refunds. She was actually very nice, and reassured me that there was a 30 day guarantee, and I need not worry. She said that she would e-mail me the refund form from two different sources, so as to insure that I got at least one of them. And for me to print them, fill them out, and mail them in right away. She did just that. I bought the program on 8/14/06. I got the refund forms by e-mail on 8/15/06.

I was still concerned when I got off the phone, because I somehow walked away with the impression that the sooner I got the refund forms mailed back to them, the better my chances of getting a refund. I was also worried because there is no reason for us to have to mail that stuff in, other than to make it difficult, and to delay things.
But my printer had just quit working, so it took me about a week or a week and a half just to get them printed.

Then I mailed them in immediately by regular mail--no special treatment (I should have mailed it by certified mail--but I took my chances, since I thought surely I would have no problems since I sent them in well before the 30 days). I was also careful not to go to the website again, exept for one time one or two days after the purchase, just to show a friend just exactly what information the website gave.

It was actually very, very limited, and most of the information was outdated for as much as 5 or more years, although some was as recent as 2 years ago. That is still not recent enough. (I looked up my own family, and it had major omissions.)It has been a month, and I have not heard anything. If I don't start taking action now, I will forget.

In some ways I feel I am being unfair to them by complaining, since I have not recontacted them, to see what they say. But we really should be refunded immediately, without the paperwork, or the immense time delay. I really feel if I have any chance of seeing the refund, it will be by complaining to different agencies. I just recently e-mailed them again to see what my status is. I will also be contacting the attorney general and have already contacted the BBB. If I get my refund or hear anything of interest, I will post again.
