Haynes Furniture Poor rebate practices ripoff Virginia Beach Virginia

I purchased a $1400 couch from Haynes Furniture on 01/27/06. My sales person was Shiela O'Toole. I was informed at the time that there was a 20% rebate on all purchases over $1000. The sales woman actually filled out the rebate paperwork for me and handed me 2 stacks of paperwork, one to mail in, one to keep in regards to the stainsafe warrenty I purchased. I called yesterday, 12/11/06 to check on the status of my warrenty, and was told it was denied. The lady in the business office didn't even ask my name or anything. She said "you probably didn't send in the receipt and it was denied".

At this point, I asked her if there was any way that she could check on MY rebate specifically with my name, which I gave her at that time and she grudgingly agreed. When she got back on the phone, she said "you didn't send in the packing order, so it was denied". Never at any point in time was I told I needed to send in a packing order. I asked to speak to a manager.

When the manager picked up, I tried to start explaining my situation, and she interrupted me with "I know who you are and your situation". She was very rude. I just wanted to let her know that I understand that Haynes runs a SCAM, and that I didn't expect her to overturn the denial. I just wanted to let her know I was very upset, wouldn't be shopping there again ever and would let everyone I knew how awful they were. She did not care.

When I bought the couch I VERY SPECIFICALLY asked the Shiela O'Toole what I needed to send it. She told me just the rebate form and CC reciept. Nothing was said about the packing slip and I did not read that anywhere on the rebate form. I did just as I was told and got screwed. From the sound of the 2 very rude women in the business office, I was not the first person to call in regards to this rebate.

The really bad part, is, that the rebate was for an IN STORE credit! I would have had to purchase something in thier store for 2x the amount of the rebate!!!! They would have had me in there spending even more money! Instead, they have lost a customer and I will let everyone I know what scammers and rude people they are. (BTW. They were sued back in 1995 for rebate fraud).

So if you want to deal with scam artists, and very rude business office people, go to Haynes!
