POSTED: Tuesday, January 13, 2009

I'll address every word of this rant.

"I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO TAKEN ADVATAGE OF BY ANY STORE IN MY LIFE.....SOMEBODY SHOULD HAVE CRIMINAL CHARGES PRESSED!"

That's quite an accusation, and yet you don't list anything criminal in your rant. In what court would you like these charges pressed? The one in your head?

"BAD PRODUCT"

Meaning what? You don't like the quality of the merchandise? That's not the fault of the store, that's the fault of the various manufacturers. Complain about them. Now, if you're referring to the food that is manufactured by HEB, then you're in the right place. Please elaborate on this.

"SOON EXPIRING DATES"

Food is sold until the expiration date. When it gets close enough to the date that no one wants it, the price is dropped to get it out of there. (And believe me, people buy it. They love these markdowns.) There's really nothing abnormal about this. You have every right to read the expiration date and get the one that has the most shelf life left. That's your responsibility, not the store's.

"LONG LINES(ENOUGH TO MAKE FOOD SPOIL)"

I assume you're exaggerating here. There's no adult way to respond to such a laughable accusation.

"WRONG D.O.B.DATES"

Wrong Date of Birth dates? Wait... what? The birth that the food was born? I don't follow you.

"BREAD WITH MOLD"

Finally, a legitimate complaint. This is completely unacceptable, and should not ever happen. I say "should" because it does happen sometimes when the bakery/bread isle are not properly monitored. If you encounter this, show it to a manager, and they'll rectify the situation immediately. If they don't, get their name and file a complaint with corporate. There's no excuse for that.

"LACK OF PRODUCT ON THE SHELF,(DOG FOOD)"

Is this something that happened once, or is it a frequent complaint? Things sell out. It happens. The shelves cannot be stocked all day long. If this is an ongoing problem, let a manager know. If they don't rectify the situation or at least apologize and explain the reason behind the shortages, file a complaint with corporate.

"OVER PRICED ITEMS (MILK, EGGS, TO THE POINT OF GOUGING)"

Price gouging generally refers to the unethical increase of prices during some kind of an emergency situation. It does not refer to simply high prices. If water costs 40 bucks a gallon during a hurricane, it's price gouging. If it costs 40 bucks during normal conditions, it's a rip off. I don't think you fully grasp that concept based upon your complaint. I suggest you do some further reading.

Now, HEB is not responsible for many of it's prices. They pay a certain amount for their products, and then they ship them to their stores. As a result, some things cost more than others. Generally, HEB brand products should be cheaper since making their own food is cheaper than buying and then reselling food. And some brands are just expensive.

For example, during a recent hurricane, my particular store opened the day after the storm, with no electricity, and only the employees who were still in town and generous enough to come in and open the store for the community. We started off without cold products, but once we got the coolers working, we got all the milk and eggs we could as soon as we could. Unfortunately, one of the first truck we got was not HEB brand milk, but another brand that is notoriously expensive. So, rather than being thankful that we went above and beyond the call of duty to come into work while our homes were flooded and get milk to the community, our customers all screamed price gouging when we didn't have the cheapest milk available. I had a woman tell me That's price gouging. You're about to go to jail. She then pretended to call the police. I'm not kidding.

Clearly I have strong feelings on the issue. It is absolutely not the fault of HEB or it's employees that some other companies charge ridiculous amounts for their products.

"MIS-MARKED OR WRONG PRICES ON THE SHELF...BUYER CANNOT TELL WHAT THE THE TRUE PRICE OF THE PRODUCT IS, THEN DIFFERS AT REGISTER WHICH HAS HAPPENED TO ME SEVERAL TIMES ON THE SAME PRODUCT 3 MONTHS RUNNING,EVEN THOUGH I POINTED IT OUT EACH TIME."

This is another completely legitimate complaint. It's a pet peeve of mine. The scan department doesn't always mark things correctly, or enter them into the computer correctly. It's a simple, honest mistake that turns into a huge pain in the butt. In this situation, if the correct price is within 2 dollars of the price in the computer, the cashier should take your word for it, give you the lower price, and apologize for the inconvenience. This is the way that they are trained. Some of them, unfortunately, do not do this. If this is an ongoing problem, I would, again, suggest contacting the HEB corporate number and filing a complaint. That really does get things done.

"I AM ABOUT TO REPORT YOU TO THE AUTHORITIES."

Again, what authorities, and for what? Other than your misunderstanding of the concept of price gouging, there's nothing in your rant that would constitute illegal activities.

"YOU NEED TO START LOOKING AT HOW YOU ARE TREATING YOUR VALUED CUSTOMERS INSTEAD OF YOUR BOTTOM LINE."

Nothing wrong with this statement. Every company should keep a constant eye on their customer experience and not get too wrapped up in the bottom line.

"I WILL BE IN ON MONDAY WITH A RECIEPT AND NOTES. I WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK DIRECTLY WITH A DISTRIC MANAGER. YOUR STORE IS THE MOST HORRIBLE STORE I HAVE EVER VISITED."

Wait, you do understand that you're not contacting the store by posting this on a website that is not affiliated with the store in any way, right? And if you would like to speak to a "DISTRIC [sic] MANAGER" you won't have any luck just going to a random store. Perhaps you're referring to a Store or Unit director. Otherwise, you could ask for the district manager's number, but they might not give it to you. Again, complaints will be better handled by corporate.

"I HAVE MUCH PATIENTS BUT YOUR STORE HAS PUT ME TO THE EDGE OF OPENING MY OWN STORE."

Ok, I lied, I'm not going to respond to every word of your rant. Just the ones that make sense. This line doesn't, so lets move on.

"MAYBE I SHOULD START POSTING STUFF ONLINE, LIKE SKEAKY WHEEL...ETC."

Well, you did post this online. Step one complete.

"THERE ARE MANY...I COULD RUIN YOU...BUT I WONT."

No, my friend, you couldn't. You're just one customer who doesn't have the ability to spell correctly or turn off caps lock.

"I JUST WANT YOU TO REFUND ME FOR MY BAD STUFF AND FIX YOUR TERRIBLE STORE."

A reasonable request.

YOU OWE ME BETWEEN 250 - 300 FOR ALL THE BAD STUFF YOU HAVE SOLD ME SINCE I MOVED HERE IN MARCH. IT JUST TOOK ME THIS LONG TO BE FED UP ENOUGH TO DO SOMTHING ABOUT IT.

It took you 300 (alleged) dollars to get mad? Are you kidding? Please tell me you're kidding.

ANY LESS AND I AM BLOWING THE WHISTLE AND PICKETING.

TAKE A TRIP TO AUSTIN AND SHOP THERE

AUTHOR: Margaret - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, December 26, 2007

I suspect there is no Hutto Texas, probably just another fake town, but I do know that Round Rock is real and Round Rock is only about 20 miles from Austin, so looks like you will need to make large monthly shopping trips into Austin. HEB SUCKS!!! I have friends and family in Corpus Christi that have made the same complaint, but unfortanately HEB are like Wal Mart. Trying to take over and the more that people give in and won't drive out of their way to shop elsewhere, they win, so make that drive to Austin. You will be doing yourself a favor.
