We dropped off our 8 year old Golden Retriever for boarding on July 15, 2016.  When we picked him up on July 18, 2016 it seemed to take awhile for them to bring him out. My husband immediately noticed he could barely walk, his eye was the size of a baseball and he had blood coming out of his nose.  The young girl at the counter told my husband that he had fallen off the grooming table and got hurt.  My husband had already paid them and he rushed our dog to the Vet.

Our Vet indicated that he had severe head trauma and was very concerned that he may lose his eye or would have to be euthanized.  She recommended we leave him there for treatment.  I left work to go and see my dog and after speaking with our Vet she told me that Heidelberg German Shepherds has a very bad reputation and wished me luck being compensated by them.

I drove over to Heidelberg and spoke to Euguene thinking he of course would be remorseful and compensate me for the neglect/abuse my dog suffered while in his care.  As soon as I told him who I was he said to me, "look what your dog did to my groomer" and pointed to the head groomer, a Hispanic man standing behind him.  They told me he did not speak english and had to translate for him.  I told him I was sorry what happened to his employee and could he tell me what happened to my dog.  He told me, for no reason my dog bit his employee and he was going to sue me.  I told him that I was not responsible for his workers comp claim and that he was responsible for injuries to his employee while on duty.  He then told me that he was going to call animal control and have my dog destroyed.  I told him "great, I'll wait for them to arrive as I would like them to see the condition of my animal and I would also like to make a complaint against them".  He then told me if I pursued anything he would sue me in court for everything I had.  I told him all I was looking for was an explanation, an apology and for them to compensate me for my Vet bills and to reimburse me the $236 for boarding.  He told me to get lost and that I signed a release when I dropped the dogs off.  I asked him for a copy of what I signed as we were not given one.  The older woman at the desk made a copy and handed it to me.  I asked her where specifically I waived any injury to my pet.  She laughingly told me that they could kill my dog and charge me a daily rate until I dragged his dead body off their property.  I asked again where I signed off on that and she grabbed the paper back from me and pointed it out to me and told me to read it.  I noticed that it was not in bold or highlighted but buried in the middle of the form.  I asked them why they would have a clause like that and perhaps this happened to someone before me.  I realized at that point that I was not going to get anywhere with them and I left.

We brought our dog home a couple of days later after paying our Vet $1000.  For the next 7 months our dog had nose bleeds that progressively got worse and we put him down on 2/11/17 as there was nothing else we could do for him. He was a healthy 8 year old, happy go lucky, never bit anyone I took him to, groomers, boarding, Vet never any issues with him.

I was so upset with how I was treated by Heidelberg/Eugene Thompson that I posted on their facebook page what happened to us along with pictures.  I began hearing from other people that they had similar situations and one of them referred me to this page.  I am so outraged that this man could be in business for all these years and do this much damage to not only my dog/myself but all these other people.  Why is he still in business?  Other people have sued him and because he appeals each case, the costs go up and people drop it.  He relies on people giving up and he continues to maim/kill family pets and he sells animals with defects! Who protects consumers from this man?

Please, anyone reading these posts, do your own homework before doing business with this man.  Talk to local Vet's-several of them, go to Montgomery County Courthouse and see how many people have sued him and lastly, take to heart all these reports from other victims.  I assure you these are normal people who have better things to do than post on this website.  We have all been hurt by this man.
