I made a reservation for a mid sized SUV rental via Hotwire.com and Hertz rentals for August 14-18, 2015 in Orlando, FL.  I prepaid $170.21 for that rental.  When I arrived as agreed to pick up my rental I was told by the agent that the rental I reserved 1 week prior was not ready for pick up.  She offered me a luxury mid-size for an upcharge to $50/day for a total of $200.00 for the rental.  I repeated what she said back to her, and she said, yes they are usually $200/day.

Upon the completioin and return of their vehicle, I was charged the $200.00 for the rental plus $77.19 for gas and toll.  On my receipt, there is no credit for the $170.21 that I originally paid.  I placed a call to Hertz, and spoke to a representative and was told that was what I agreed to and that I was not entitled to a refund at all.

I paid a total $447.40 for a $170.21 rental because Hertz did not have my vehicle ready for pick-up as agreed.  Somehow it feels like a scam.  I will never rent from Hertz again and buyer beware!!

How about when placing a reservation, making prompt delivery as promised, instead of lying and doing shady upgrades? It's about principle. www.neveragain.com

Up charge to $50/day ---for a total of $200--so approximately $30 more dollars total than the initial rental prepayment. It makes absolutely no sense to accept an upcharge that was more than the initial rental. Hertz didn't have the vehicle I reserved ready!!! It Doesn't matter whether you work for them or not really. And it is simple math. In addition, the same claim was made on that same day and location with another family member. Whether it makes sense or not hertz is scamming customers for greater financial gain. Horrendous business!!! I can keep saying it it f you'd like!

No SCAM---Do Your Math!!!

As per your exact words...the original fee for the original SUV was $170.21.  the replacement SUV cost, as per YOUR words an "upcharge" at $50.00.  An "upcharge" is how much extra PER DAY.  $50 for four days is $200.00.  Then the $77.19 is added.  Of course, YOU could have avoided the $77.19 by returning the vehicle with the same level of fuel which was originally in it AND by paying for tolls at the toll both in cash but you avoided doing that.  This brings us to this equation:  170.21+200.00+77.19=447.40 which is what you were properly charged.

No scam here!

Don't bother writing back claiming I must work for them.  I'll save you the trouble...I don't!!!
