I recently had two meetings with Doug Fowler of HiProfile, LLC, an "Executive Placement Firm" based out of Boston. I actually met him in a Nashua office at 20 Trafalgar Square.

I was originally contacted by HiProfile as they were "given my resume" (they likely found it on Monster and picked me as a potential target). I was an invited candidate - people can't apply to them - how special.

In any case, my first meeting he went over my resume with me, gave me some tips on how to improve it & sell me better, then went through a basic interview as he sees it and did some mock Q&A interview style. In the midst of his final schpiel on the service, he glanced over a "candidate fee" -- when I tried to ask him more about that, he wouldn't answer me, just said we'd talk about it next time.

After that, he said he had to meet with some other people, determine if I was worthy to continue, and if I didn't hear from him by noon the next day, to meet at a time we predetermined. Well, I didn't hear from him, so I met with him.

Here, after a little BS, I got the contract. The fee I had to pay was based on what he projected as my targeted salary: $120k. $7800 was the amount, $2800 up front, $5000 on job acceptance. OK, so I take the contract (I wanted to look it over to see if there were any sketchy details in it) and before I leave, I ask him for references. He won't give any to me unless I pay $500! Scam!!

So I found this site tonight and behold, there are three other reports of this company being a scam.

Hopefully the next person does their research first and doesn't waste a 2nd meeting with these people.
