A friend of mine had an older version of thier software. phpmaker version 10 
I used it for a number of months on his computer building a program for work.

I no longer talk to this person as he doesnt work in my office now. 
I have my project files from version 10 , I bought version 11 to work on them. 

The problem is , if i upgrade the project files from 10 to 11 they will break some of the things i have in place. 

I contacted support to buy the older version 10 .  

This was my question:

I am a registered user of version 11. I will be upgrading to  version 12 shortly.  I also wanted to know if I could purchase a license for an older version 10.0.2  A friend had originally got me started using that on his laptop and I want that version because of a few extensions I wrote that I want to be able to use. However it doesn’t look like you offer the old version on your site. I have no problem paying for it , I just need the older version with extensions etc. My friend said he has a copy but as a programmer myself I would rather buy it legitimately from you and pay you back for this awesome framework.  Please let me know if this is possible and how to arrange payment. 

And thier reply: 

If you upgrade to v12, we can offer you a free license for v10 provided that:

1. You can provide a valid registered license name,
2. You acknowledge that there is NO product support for the older version.

I upgraded immediately. I recieved a reciept, they took my money and then I recieved no download for the software i just purchased. When I contacted support asking about this as well as providing  1) my valid registered liscence name for version 11 ,  and I acknowledge that there is no product support. 

They then replied with this : 

We do not find any license info for the v10 in your attachment which is just email content of our previous email correspondences and contains license key for v11 only.

As explained:

>Please understand that if your license for v10 was illegal, we regret to say that we cannot provide the free license, older versions are not available any >more. If you want to cancel your order for v12 due to this reason, please let us know. Thanks.

The emails continued back and forth ,where i asked them 3 times why i had not been given the software i just paid for. They ignored it. Now they are saying they refunded my money but it is not in my account. 

The whole exchange made no sense. Why would i try to buy an old version if I already had it?  I was trying to buy old software because thier new software doesnt work with my files. They agreed then went back on that agreement after i paid them for an upgrade.  I am out $300 here from buying versions trying to get them to work.  I have never had such a hard time dealing with customer service at any company. If you think you might need support , use another framework.
