Money expended:   5/13/12 home depot kitchen remodel loan approved $15000  6/28/12 $900 on home depot credit card for electric & soffit work    9/8/2 $100 out of pocket for plumber 2nd visit  11/13/12 $355.19 on home depot credit card final payment to home depot    10/9/12 $196 private hired electrician   11/1/12 $300  private hired tile installer

Work installation order: 6/26/12  cabinets delivered  7/16/12 workers removed old cabinets  NO WATER  or ELECTRICITY  7/17/12 soffit & old electric removed  7/18/12 electric wires moved for new lights & electric boxes removed  7/19/12  drywall patched  7/20/12 cabinets installed-per installer they do not install the range hood  7/25/12 countertops measured  8/31/12 countertops installed  9/1/12 sink installed drain broken  store employee & manager visit to see progress & ordered new single cabinet  9/8/12 drain repaired by plumber DAY 74 WATER    9/21/12 electric installed 5 lights 4 GFI 1 plate under sink outlet in island installed    did not install range hood as it was damaged DAY 87 ELECTRICITY   9/28/12 single cabinet ordered installed bottom of wall cabinets covered, shoe moulding installed on bottom cabinets  10/9/12 new range hood delivered  electricial co will not install as they did more electric work than job description called for-6 lights  10/19/12 range hood installed by my private electrician  11/1/12 backsplash tile installed by my private tile installer.

11/1/12   JOB COMPLETED DAY 138

I was so dissatisfied with the way my remodel was handled, it took 138 days   I was with out water for 74 days washing dishes in garage sink, and without electricity for 87 days, using a microwave for cooking.  The excuses, I had fallen thru the cracks, the counter top was only to have taken 2 weeks, etc. really set me off. 

Home depot left me with holes in the walls and around the light fixtures, no range hood installed, no tile installed, and informed me I owed them $1,109.28

I ended up hiring outside installers for my range hood as none of the home depot installers would install this and hiring an outside tile installer as no one from home depot contacted me about the tile work. Oh, and both of the outside installers I hired sent me a bill AFTER they did the work.

I had a letter along with a time line of the remodel sent to home depot and the response from them was to email to home depot attention chris.  I did this with absolutely no reply. I have almost paid off the entire home depot loan and have not set foot in home depot since 11/13/12.  I have shredded my home depot credit card and any mail they send to me.  I have told everyone I know about this and they all know I will never set foot in a home depot again, and will continue to tell anyone about my experience.

By the way, I had an entire 3 bedroom 2 bath house builtin 1997.  Took 94 days.
