Kevin (the "Sales Manager")from the NJ Homefix office came to our house earlier this year to do an estimate on siding and windows. After considering the costs involved, we decided to replace our windows and have a window added in our basement to make a third bedroom. Adam (who's title kept changing)came and gave us the pricing for the windows and had us sign a contract and went over all the financing options. He told us what size window we would need to consider the room a bedroom and told us that we would not need any permits.

We scheduled the appointment for the installers to come. They showed up about an hour late and ended up being at our house for a much longer length of time then we were told they would be there. They also didn't finish all the work and had to come back the next day which was a Saturday.

They showed up over 2 hours late on Saturday to finish the work. They did the cutout for the window in the basement and installed that. They left the sheet rock around the window in such horrible shape that we ended up having to replace it ourselves. They also left the inside trim on our picture window all cut up and unfinished. They also left all the windows dirty with their fingerprits and residue. They could have at least cleaned them like other window companies do.

We called and spoke with Tony at the main office and at the time he seemed very helpful. He sent someone out to fix the picture window.

Once this was done, Homefix sent us the paperwork to sign for the bank. The lady sent it over and called me 3 or 4 times within the first hour after I confirmed with her that I had received it. She was very anxious for me to sign it and get it back to her.

We had to contact our town to get the permits for some other work that we were doing for the new bedroom and they informed us that we did need a permit for the window. We called Tony at the head office and told him that they needed to take care of this since Adam told us we didn't need a permit. Tony told us that he would have Adam take care of it within the next day or two. A little over a week later we went to the town to pick up our other permits and they told us that there was no permit pulled for the windows. So we took care of it ourselves. We called Homefix about this and they are supposed to issue a refund for the cost of the permit.

We were also told by the construction manager for our town that the window isn't the right size for it to be considered a bedroom. We're working that out with the town and they should let it slide, although if it doesn't, I doubt Homefix will bother to come out and fix their mistake.

My sister-in-law and her husband had new windows installed and used Sears and didn't have any problems at all. I am not only not recommending Homefix to anyone, but I am also making sure everyone knows to not even consider using them.

Received phone call from owner of Homefix

I received a phone call last week from George, one of the owners of Homefix. He had read this report and was upset to hear that my husband and I were treated so poorly by some of his employees. He asked me to go through and explain everything again and he sounded genuinely disappointed that we were treated the way we were by a few of people at his company.

He informed me that a lot of the things we were told by the installation manager were not true and that this individual is no longer with the company. He also assured me that he would look into the situation and find out who our installers were and take care of that.

George asked what he could do to make us happy. He gave us some time to think about it and yesterday we reached an agreement. He was very willing to work with us to make us happy.
