Finally was able to afford the car of my dreams (Mitsubishi evolution IX MR). Searched nationwide for two months until I saw an online ad for Hondaland Tampa. Called dealer to ask some questions. Spoke to salesman Eli on the phone. Asked him if vehicle was stock because I wanted one that was unmodified due to the fact that some tuners install mods not knowing what they are doin. He stated that vehicle was unmodified. Asked if it was still under warranty and he said it was not. Price was kind of high and it had a carbon fiber hood that I didnt like so I told him I could probably find one cheaper with a warranty somewhere else. About a week or so later he called and said he would drop the price a few hundred dollars if I bought the car. I told him I would drive down and take a look. Drove five hours to get there and it was pouring rain. Elie probably loved that because the carbon fiber hood was really scatched up and oxidized but because it was wet so I couldnt tell. Of course he didnt tell me that. Test drove the car and liked it. Noticed there were no floor mats and asked Eli if he had them. He says yes and that they will put them in after they detailed it after purchase. Elie is being the typical pushy salesman man and tells me "every other Evo we have had here has been modified but this one so you got the pick of the litter". I said that I wouldnt have came all the way out there for a modified car. I decide to buy the car. Go in to see finance person and hand them a check $24,000.00 Finance person tells me I should get an extended warranty because this cars parts are very expensive to replace. Paid $1200.00 for a one year warranty and drove the car off the lot. Noticed right away that car was not detailed on the inside. Looked exactly as it did during testdrive. Also my foot was sliding around as I shifted to the point that I had to pull over. Checked and the "floormats" they put in where not oem so they did not fit at all. They were tiny and not even very clean. Threw mats in trunk and drove home. Bought new mats at dealer for $100.00 when I got home. Drove car for 21 days and I noticed it was kind of had to get into gear sometimes especially reverse. 21st day of ownership car starts making grinding noise. Take it in in my home town and hand them extended warranty. They say its still under factory warranty for another twenty thousand miles. Printed up proof and they said dealer should not have sold me extended warr. while still under factory warranty because ext. warr will not touch car while currently under fact warr. I said well I'll deal with the dealer later about the useless warranty they sold me and that they should go ahead and use the fact. warr. They said they could not because they was a modification to a pipe coming from the engine manifold. I told then there was not so he asked me to come look under the car. Looked at car while it was on the lift and sure enough there was a japanese downpipe installed. So dealer denies warranty. Was able to crawl home since I lived maybe a mile down the road and began the process of contacting Hondaland. Once they found out I had a complaint they began acting very immature and unprofessional. They never returned my calls and were rude as heck. Finally talked to Rob Spencer and he said they would fix it if I towed it out there. I told him I would pay to have it towed but I had to find out how much it would cost. Arranged transport. Around $800.00 and called Hondland to confirm that they would fix it and they played their usual phone tag games for four or five days until I got ahold of someone he informs me that Rob Spencer was fired and that he would call me back to see what he could do. He never did of course. Meanwhile I have no transportation and it has been two weeks. So I finally got ahold of him. His last name was Bills. He tells me he is not going to do anything for me because I signed the dreaded "AS IS" paper and that I probably installed the mod. I contact a lawyer and begin legal action against him. Meanwhile lawyer tells me that I can fix the car and add the amount to my settlement. Repair bill was est. @ over six thousand dollars. I didnt have it so I found second hand parts on the internet and paid around $2500.00 to have parts installed. Meanwhile I had a issue with the Lawyer about somthing I wanted to discuss with him and his secretary tells me he changes his mind and is dropping the case. Now it has been three months and tommorow Ill be picking up my car at the shop after two and a half months of being broken down. So in conclusion, "Stay away from Hondaland Tampa"! They are dishonest, immature, and will rip you off big time. Look up reviews for them. Wish I would have! Plenty of complaints from other people.
