They advertise in a coupon book sent to mobile home parks. Says any size room $6.95, 5 rooms $34.75, etc. BUT when they arrive, they say carpet is DIRTY (duh!) and that if you want it CLEAN, you have to pay $75 for 2 rooms.

I protested, so they called the Big Boss who brought it down to $65.

I said I just want the $6.95 room cleaning they advertised. Of course it is just as dirty as before. Theye advertise STEAM cleaning but it's not. They just shoot tap water on it and suck it back up. That is NOT cleaning a carpet!

Avoid these jerks! They don't give their address. Just phone numbers in Clearwater, St Pete, Tarpon Springs FL.

just used their so called $36+ coupon! whata joke! splashed a bunch of luke warm tap water & my house smelled horrible! NO deodorizer as they promised! ended up buying dollar tree/china made carpet spot remover & used an old towel! coulda saved me $40....its all geared to get you to buy the $95 treatment! totally unprofessional and i will never recommend them. its a shame really as i own several businesses that need a good carpet business- HORIZON WILL NEVER BE ONE OF THEM.

You are the rip off

not him. If you really thought he wanted to come to your house and clean your carpet for 6.95 you are a fool. Would you? How do you expect him to support his family? Of course they try to upsell you, they have to make a living. The only mistake they made was sending out flyers to trailer trash that say "Duh".

It Is True! Bait and Switch!

AUTHOR: M - (U.S.A.)

As a former carpet "technician" and manager for Bart Janssen, owner of BK Cleaning AKA Horizon Carpet Cleaning, we were trained to to show the perspective customer how much better their carpet service would be with additional services. many of which would reach several hundreds of dollars.

I worked for Horizon in two different states. That was several years ago, however; the practices remain the same. This does not discount the fact that most carpet cleaning services will utilize "upsell" procedures to gain the best profit from any potential customer. That includes the NATIONALY advertised companies.

I hope this is informative and helpful. You can always rent your own, or call the most reputable in your area. Just remember, you get what you pay for. If you are wise!!!!

#2 UPDATE Employee

It's True

Well I don't normally bash the way other people make money but i have to say as an ex employee it is very much a rip off not that its false advertising we are trained a certain way to show what the deep scub methode involves when doing a spot test on the carpet now to be compleatly honest every carpet tech that comes into your home should know what needs to be done to get your carpet cleaned but most people do not recognise that so they have to be shown the difference in the 2 cleaning's while you see the difference the tech uses the same product in the machine the only difference is the amount of time and concentration involved in the cleaning while you clean your carpet just as effectivly with a rental machine from a supermarket most people don't have the time for that and choose to pay someone to come out and clean it the hype about calling the boss is we qoute you the highest price to get it cleaned then the "Boss" or Mr. Green then takes it down to the low end of the scale so really you get no discount but the reaason for the upselling is because your tech is paid on a comission now where as you would normally think your tech being a subcontractor would benifit the most out of upselling it is not true we support all the burden and they get the best of the results any job only pays the tech 25% and a 3 dollar trip fee now the three dollars provided you give it in cash will go to the tech otherwise it gets mixed into the paycheck and basically we come out for free being as it may we sign up for this thinking its a great deal when in order to make what i would consider a paycheck on a weekly basis we have to sell almost 4000.00 in jobs per week just to make a decent paycheck but remember this if you call horizon they are cheaper then some but if you do your homework you can get better also if you decide not to get the cleaning done the boss will try to muscle you into the basic something you don't even want so caution yourself when calling for an appointment all of the techs run there own side business and would be more then willing to do it on the side if you throw them out on horizons dime after all we are in it for the money and the customer wants the best clean for their dollar.

call us - we'll make it right...

It's unfortunate that our industry (carpet cleaning) has been scarred by businesses like Horizen. Give me a call if you would like your carpets cleaned without any gimmicks. We look to earn your business (and your neighbors') for life.

Darren
