I was suspicious the day I signed up in April 2008, about 5-6 months ago. The host asked me if I wanted a free script that was an FFMPEG script that cost about $100-200 to this day. I said no, what purpose would that have.
After I refused the script was installed on my system instead of the script I uploaded. I did try it, and it didn't work it was hacked. No surprise.
Then I get an email the other day, offering software for free and also stating that he would 'mess with my files' if I voted for a specific presidential candidate.
He said I was kidding but ruined many of my website folders and programs that were working one day earlier.
On top of all that, they allow adult content and I have emails from them to show they get "hacked" frequently.
This isn't too unique. Other hosts have "tiny" little termites you are unaware of they stick in without your knowledge, including FTP access and loads of other stuff. The host is totally in control once you choose a host.
Bottom line. Trust in a good host or host your own website. For me, the headaches are both ways, but I'd rather do it myself.

OK, the complaint I filed was true.
But I have to admit that they have a LOT of know how.
They are easy going people and not overly cruel although they did suspend my website for the comment I made.
If you are looking for good hosting, yes, they are efficient in many
ways.
You have to realize that with all hosts, they will probably steal your scripts. That's why hosting your own site is a good idea. They aren't interested in cloning your website as much as they are cloning your
basic unedited script. Hire a good web designer who knows how to foul that up. It probably won't work given the amount of websites that hosting companies have. So, computer bones will rot most if not all of the time.
Anyways, maybe you'll be lucky. Hosting-Marketers has over the top
excellent customer service. That is for real.
They are better for helpful customer service than any other company I've tried, including apthost.com, occhosting.com, and many many others. I've even had one FFMPEG host that would force hosting to exploit your system, and others that exploit your email.
It is best to host your own, but that is another snake too. The computer world is in by in large, a snake pit, so it's just basically a matter of picking your poison.
