Hotwire Hotel Accommodation Ripoff San Francisco California

Hotwire provides accommodations at supposed savings with partner hotels they are connected with. The problem is in their rating grid and the end result of what you actually get.

We booked two hotels in Alberta Canada and neither one lived up to our expectations or their classification/ratings. One hotel which a month ago was rate 2.5 Stars has now been downgraded to 1 Star by Hotwire themselves. However, in complaining about the hotel they provided, they claimed they had been in contact with the hotel in question and were satisfied that the classification was correct. Far from it. It was old, dirty, noisy just to mention a few of the issues. We ultimately moved out, paid an additional charge at another hotel that was classified the same by them but far superior in all respects - clean, 2 years old and in a quiet neighborhood.

Our other hotel booking with Hotwire resulted in the hotel providing us with a lockoff room to an adjoining suite which would serve as overflow for a family with children who didn't wish to book two rooms. If we wanted a standard room, yes, we have one but it will cost you $50 more. This room could not have been more than 10x10 for two adults. Free continental breakfast provided you were prepared to wait until 8 a.m. Great when you're travelling and you have 600 miles ahead of you.

Not pleased with this company at all and complaints registered with BBB provided no favourable results either. Hotwire's response was to offer me $50 hotwire dollars as compensation for our unsavoury experience with them. This is of no use to us as we do not intend to use them again.
