Crazy charges horrible customer service .....

This credit card company is awful! In a nutshell here is what they did to me, (and I am sure many others)!
The first over the limit charge was my fault I can admit that, I went over by a few dollars, I payed it on time, an amount that should have taken it well below my limit. After a few months I realized that there were over the limit fees for the previous 2 months, knowing I payed my bills on time all the time I did some detective work.

What I figured out disgusted me, I was being billed on the 3rd of the month, I would receive the bill around the 8th of the month. The due date on the bill was the 28th of the month, I always payed my bill on the 15th of the month, and it was posted on my statement as being recieved on the 17th. By looking at my account online and comparing it to my written statement I realized they were giving my account an over the limit fee on the 13th of every month~~15 days before my bill was even due.

I had trouble contacting them, the phone numbers on the bill wouldn't work so I found one at the web site, and it wasn't even toll free! Whenever I called I was outraged at the way the woman talked to me after stating my claim over and over again her reply each time was "Because we can". That made me so outraged, she told me that even though my account would be below the limit if I payed before my due date that did not matter they added an over the limit fee 15 days before it was due because "that is just how they do it, and they can do it anytime they want to and there is nothing I can do about it".

I was then told "since you figured out what we do you will know to pay your bill by phone as soon as you recieve it" My question is what ever happened to a do date? and why do they even bother writing one on the statement? Also, Is this legal? Please help me out with this if you can. I now know why they sent me so many applications before I accepted, something I wish I never would have done.
