I have had a household card since I was 18. I always had mysterious late and over the limit charges that were added on and sent in a later bill than my initial one for that month stating I owed more money to them. I constantly argued back and forth but got no where with it. They stated they had a right to do this even though I could not find in my contract where it stated such.

I also had a teller on the phone con me out of double payments for one month. I was worried one payment would not be recieved on time and I called them up. I spoke to a young woman who reassured me that if I gave her the info of the check I was to be mailing out that she would put it into their system I that I did in fact have a check in transit for payment and I wouldn't accrue a late charge. Being as how I had never had a credit card before I thought this was nice of her and gave her my info. Low and behold when I got my statement for the next month not only did she charge me a payment over the phone which I did not authorize, the check I mailed in was also cashed.

I called to see how the same check could be cashed twice and all I was told was by another young woman was she was very sorry this happened and knew how I felt because it happened to her but would not help me out. I told her I never authorized a payment over the phone and she told me that I must have or else they would not have done one. I spoke to her supervisor who was een ruder and got no where.

When I turned 22 I signed up for a debt management program with Consumer Credit Counseling Services as I had moved away for college and had a lot of accruing debt I needed to get control of. Household bank was reluctant to let me on the plan (even though all the other companies were nice about it) and after about 4 months of beginning the new plan I was dropped from the program by household. The reasoning was because my Due date for the debt managemnet services was by the 10th of each month. Household bank's card due dat was the 15th of each month and the payment to them was not being reached on time.

So, I called household up and asked to have them put back on my debt management program and change my due date to the 25th (or something around that date) so that this would not happen again. They woman assured that my due date was changed and I should have no more problems.

So next month rolls and I am yet again dropped from the program because my payment to CCCS (consumer credit counseling services) was not reached to household on time because my due date was still set at the 15th. I called household up wanting to know what happened and I was told that the due date change wasn't going to be in effect for another month. I told them to take a look at the notations on my account and listen to the conversation recorded to see that is not what I was assured of.

Well after being put on hold for what seemed like an eternity, I got a supervisor who explained how sorry he was about the mix up and that I was right and that shouldn't have happened. They credited me the late charge on my account and I thought things were going to be better....

So when I asked if they were going to be put back onto the the debt program again I was told that they could not because it was their policy that if anyone is dropped from a debt management program they are no longer allowed to be put back onto one. Well I admit I flipped....I asked how this could be after they admittedly made the mistake the second time which caused the drop. They just apologized but would not budge after an almost hour of rebuttlement.

So, they keep calling me wanting to pay my minimum balance which I repeatedly tell them I cannot afford for if I could I would not be with CCCS. My balance since doubled even though I cut my card up when I was 19 and had not touched my account. It is ruining my credit and I cannot afford to pay the ridiculous minimum amount now. It's funny how out of the about 11 cards on my debt management program they are the only one that has kept me dropped from the program. You'd think they would want you on it to get you to pay their debt to them off.....but they just want to string you along for the rest of your life!

DON'T EVER GET A HOUSEHOLD BANK CREDIT CARD (NOW WITH HSBC). THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT PEOPLE> THEY ARE THIVES!!!!!
