False reporting to credit agency; fraudulent ripoff business .....

I was amazed at all the other reports on this website regarding the ripoff that is known as Household Bank. I bought a water softener, with deferred payments for 6 months. In month 3, I started receiving phone calls, at work, about late payments. I couldn't get their customer service clerk to understand I had 6 months to make payment # 1, so I had to get Rainsoft involved and finally got these idiots with Household Bank to understand.

Then 2 weeks ago, on a Saturday morning at 8 am, I got a call from a clerk saying my payment was past due. I said it was not, that my check had cleared the bank. She said you owe $187 and I said "my payment is only $137". We went back and forth and she was getting irate with me. She then said she was going to put me on hold while she looked up something. My pancakes were burning so I gave the phone to my husband and said "man, what a b***h". Well, my husband started laughing and hung up the phone. He said she said "we don't allow cussing at this company and I will have to call you back". All that after she had just blasted me on the phone and then lied to me about placing me on hold.

When I purchased the water softener, I was told my payment would be $137 and that is what I have been paying each month. I mail my payment a week in advance and have never had a problem. When I looked at the Feb. statement, my payment had increased because I had a late fee. Then on the March statement another late fee and my payment had been held until the day after the due date. I've heard of companies like this practicing the holding of payments but never had it happen to me. This is very unethical and a company like this should be punished.

I wrote another letter to them asking why all of a sudden my account had late fees. I told them I mailed my payment the same time each month and now it was being late. (Probably some clerk came to work and didn't do payments that week and I have to pay for it.)

Today I received a letter from Jennie Cirafici with Household Bank saying my account has been closed. It goes on to say the credit department "will send you letter(sic) to advise you when the account may qualify for a reinstatement." Ok, so do I still have to pay if my account is closed? (lol)

This is a bad company and I am going to pay them off as soon as possible. They should be prosecuted for what they do. I would love to file a class-action lawsuit against them.

Thank you for allowing me this forum to express my views.
