I'm NOT making this up! Today they made the mistake of leaving Guard Captain Scott Butler in charge and alone at HACLA Headquarters at 2600 Wilshire. Butler knows he is on his way out and is doing everything he can think of to protect his phoney baloney job. Larry Goins and John King (The only ADULTS at HACLA) took a group of big wigs on a dog and pony show to Watts today.
Around 4:15pm this afternoon, Butler, all full of himself as usual, was strutting around the building looking for people to harass when he stumbled upon a live chicken wandering on the sidewalk next to the employee parking lot on Rampart Street. Seeing the chicken, Butler barked into his radio, "Attention! Attention! CODE RED ALPHA ALERT AT CHECK POINT ROMEO!" The poor secretary answered him with, "What is a 'code red alpha alert'?" and Butler responded, "It is a secret police term that only police know and since you aren't the police I can't tell you. [continued below]....
When they got outside, there was Butler following a brown chicken around the parking lot. Butler barked, "Call LAPD SWAT and the Bomb Squad, we have a situation here!" By this time Sanford Riggs had shown up and asked Butler what the h*ll he was talking about and Butler said, "I have reason to believe that this domesticated fowl may be concealing a small plastic exploding device in its rectum." Disgusted, Sanford sarcastically said, "You evacuated the whole building and want us to call LAPD because you think this chicken has a bomb hidden up it's a**?" Butler blankly stared at him and said, "I heard that Al Qaeda on the loose and we can't take any chances..." and before he could finish, Riggs interuppted him and said, "You never cease to amaze me Scott." to which Scott replied, "Thank you Mr. Riggs...." and Riggs again interuppted him by announcing to the crowd (which by now had swelled to over 200 employees) -"It's 4:30, nothing to see here, let's just call it a day. Everyone can go home now." Poor Sanford turned and as he walked into the building, Scott called out, "Can you ask Montiel when I'm getting my new police cruiser?"
The chicken was last seen wandering south on Rampart towards the Silver Platter.
