I inadvertently sent in 2 payments of $200.00 to Orchard Bank.
This company refuses to credit one of the payments back to me, even though a single payment is sufficient to keep the account current.

Any other time this would not be a problem for me, but the 2nd payment was an error.

I diagree...

The customer's money is the customer's money. I know that this is a practice that all businesses use to keep hold of money - yet it is not fair. One should get money back since if things went in reverse and the customer owed the money the bank would send out the hounds from Hell to get it! This means that the contract is not a fair contract. And if one business uses this practice it is not moral and other businesses should not follow the same practice as they tend to do. I do however agree there is nothing the complainant can do with the present system - so take the deduction. Yet this is a SLEAZY way to make money. Watch the film MAXED OUT to see how this system works. If you wish to understand this business model watch THE CORPORATION.

They didn't Rip you off, you made a mistake.  In fact it actually works to your advantage because you now have a lower balance and thus less interest being assessed.

No Credit Card company is going to refund a payment unless you close the account and that is a credit balance due to you.  Even then it may take 1-2 billing cycles to have them issue the refund.

The best thing to do is use that Credit Card when possible instead of the account your payment came out of.   That is up until the $200 mistake you made, since most places now take credit cards this should not be a real problem.
