hughes net is one of the biggest rip of companys I have ever dealt with.  First of all they claim to be as fast as dsl when they are not.  I have checked my allotment for downloading and they say I am in my limit, even though the speed is much slower than dial up.  the meter says I am ok.  I think when a lot of people are using it , regardless of your limit, it operates at a snail pace.  and they know it.  If you want to discontinue from them you have to pay 400.00 the most any internet company charges for disconection.I am very sorry I signed up with them.  I have been with them a little less than a year and I will be glad when my two years are up

They have SERIOUSLY oversold their service.

I don't remember seeing any advertising claiming DSL speeds, but I guess they could have run them.

When you get ready to cancel, be SURE to read your contract and make sure there are no "gotcha's" like having to cancel within a fixed time frame or face auto-renewa.

Good luck and sorry you had to experience this less than stellar service from them.
