Contacted Hughesnet to get internet set up at my house in a very rural area. We were promised many things in order to agree to have services set up, including the fact that we would not hit our data cap in a month's time even with my son's gaming. After agreeing to installation, they took payment from my account right away, then sent their installer to my home. Installer arrived very late at night and was under the influence of marijuana while in my home. He also stayed at the hotel I work for and we were unable to rent the room out for 2 days due to the stench of Marijuana left from his stay.

We had the internet set up for 20 hours and in those 20 hours it took 4 hours to watch one movie due to the buffering. Upon checking our usage the next morning, we discovered that Hughesnet was reporting that we had already used over 40% of our monthly data allowance - the one we were promised we wouldn't hit in 30 days had been nearly hit in 20 hours. We called to cancel the service well within the 10 days allotted, in fact it was less than 72 hours, and we were treated horribly. We reported the instance of them ssending a man to my home and he was under the influence of a controlled illegal substance. This didn't phase them in the least. The fought with turning my service off and refunding the amount we were promised.

They wanted to send the same man out to my house to uninstall and chage me for it. I reported thast if they ssent that man to my home since I didn't feel safe with him, I would notify the police of the appointment time and have them on hand for my safety. Finally, after that, they agreed to send a box, a list of items to return  and call tag out for us to send the equipment back. Upon receipt we were told we would be refunded the installation fee as well as the set-up fee as we were cancelling within our time limit. This was not the case. Upon their receipt of their equipment, my debit card was refundedthe deposit only. We contacted them several times to ask why they didn't ask for all the equipment back and they told us because we wouldn't let them send their installer out without law inforcement involvement.

We asked them to get the equipment off of our home and get out of our lives, we didn't want anything to do with them or their staff beyond that point. They promised they'd set up an appointment for same. Several weeks go by and nothing. We called back asking why no one had made the appointment, they stated someone would call for one soon. Still nothing, untill I noticed a charge to my card for the amount of $208. We called and they informed us it was becasue we still had their equipment. I got irate with them, I will not lie about that. I told them they sent someone under the influence into my home with my child living there, refused to get their property off of my house and still had the nverve to charge me for it.

Finally we were promised we could have a different person come get the items and we were given a referance number of the call so they could look back into their records and refund my money since the bank was unable to stop the payment in time. A gentleman did come out and remove the equipment. However, 3 hours after doing so, he returned, left some of the parts at our home and told us his boss said he was not to take that and that we needed to mail it back to Hughesnet. What? How can someone uninstall and not take the items with them. So, I am still being charged for posseassion of their items, when I've exhausted all efforts to return to them.

They are manipulative and scamming, stealing from anyone they come in contact with. I am a single mother and I have sseveral automatic payments coming out of my card - I will now have to change all of my information so this company doesn't go in an continue to steal from me. Why and how are they still in business? I've now read the reviews and found that by far I am not the only one this has happened and/or is still happening to with this crooked company. Blatent theivery, disregard to their "customer's" safety and well being.
