HWA Home Warranty of America Dont buy a home warranty from this company! Lincolnshire Illinois

 We purchased a home warranty from this company and had problems with the washing machine. A report was filed with the company. It took several days for one of the contracted repair facilities to come out and look at the washing machine. The first service repair shop stated that it was a manufacturers defect that caused the machine not to work properly. HWA decided not to cover the claim due to the fact that the repair man stated it was a manufacturers defect. I called Sears and found that there were no known defects with this machine and no recalls. In reality if anything breaks down it could be classified as a manufacturers defect. After arguing with HWA they agreed to send out a second repair man, one of their choosing obviously. Now, they were going to replace the bearings on the machine however, the parts had to be ordered from the parts facility authorized by HWA. Three weeks went by and no replacement parts. I called HWA again and they advised that the parts could be ordered anywhere and they would call the service man and have that done. Another week passes and low and behold the parts arrive. One more week and the service man decides to come out to the house unannounced and replace the parts. The machine is taken apart and again, low and behold we have another problem with the inner tub made of plastic which has a metal grommet in the bottom of the tub which has been made out of round due to the problems with the bearings. Now, the service man has to get approval for what is now another $100 part with shipping costs to it from HWA to have the part ordered and replaced, and another week to get the part. HWA decides that because the bearing is wore out, this is corrision and the entire repair is not covered. Not only is the corrision and repair not covered but now the entire machine is in pieces in the laundry room of the house. Prior to the service man tearing apart the machine it worked. Now, the machine is apart and we have no machine at all. The repair service will not come back out and HWA will not cover any of the repair. No one at HWA cares about the issue including their so called managers. The repair facility, Pedersen Appliance located near Rockford, Illinois also does not care about the situation. In any event the machine has about $400-$500 in uncovered repairs, and the cost to replace the machine is about $750.00. We will be reporting the issue to the Illinois Department of Insuance Consumer Affairs Division which has jurisdiction over warranty contracts. In the end, I would recommend buying a warranty from another company but certainly stay away from the following companies, in my opinion: HWA Home Warranty, Lincolnshire, IL Pedersen Appliance Repair, located near Rockford, IL Appliance Hero, Rockford, IL
