I will be more than willing to help you build a case against Innovage and it's independently owned off shoots. I worked out of Mike Kris's office in Addison (then GQ Imports) and then out of the Rockford Office with Hithm Hussain (World Class Advertising) for Six months From August to December 2006. I finally quit by phone (or else i would have been sucked back in... I was so mentally screwed up by then) the day before I was supposed to be promoted to Team manager.

These "companies" are not healthy; they are very dangerous both physically and mentally. During my time I worked the most dangerous areas of Chicago / Rockford merching the projects, strip clubs and seedy bars at night sometimes until 1:30 am (as a female...this was and is not cool... Hell as a dude it wouldn't be cool). I merched for 2 weeks with Phunmonia and was coerced into not going to the doctor, when I finally put my foot down after my "Interview" a mother said that I look really sick and I needed to I found I was 2 days away from Hospitalization.. The Doctor Ordered me to stay in bed for 2 weeks but that wasn't to be had and I was told to be an owner you have to work through anything... So the next day I was back in the field.

I got into 2 car accidents because my Jeep Liberty was so full of Merch that I couldn't see out any of my windows. I was given citations by police officers for solicitation... they took me to their department and a mug shot was taken... Luckily Hithm paid the ticket... Though I don't know if that's true... I hope it is... Surprisingly I only incurred one speeding ticket... since racing to the field was at the utmost importance.

Mentally these places break you down. It becomes one big group think... Especially if you have no close family or friends around. You become consumed in this MLM world... Words like Juice permeate your vocabulary (Ug Sooo Stupid)... You get excited about how well you 5 stepped someone out of their money (money which... they most likely didn't have a lot of in the first place). You work diligently to recruit to continue the lie... and when people look at you and say why are you doing this... You lie to yourself... because deep down you don't know why, but you're in far too deep to get out.

Once out... You're alone... They cut the ropes lickety Split... and though I do maintain some contact with Hithm you usually never speak to anyone again which, when you're in the trenches is devastating mentally because sadly... these people become your family... and it's sad but the owners do care about the people that stick with this stupid endeavor...

Everything said on this website is true... Mike is a jack a*s... and though I always liked Ellen I never worked under her so I don't know. The biggest scam of all is what goes on behind the scene's usually at the merch house... inter dating, rampant drug use...it's crazy... I have either worked with or know the majority of assistant managers / owners in the Chicago/Rockford area and I'm aware that everyone at the various outposts read these from time to time... and that they laugh at everyone who blew out... Or as I like to think... saved their own butts! So to them... WHATS UP, HOW ARE YOU!

the description of the interview process and the inner workings are all true. I have read every report on this company (Hybrid, Midwest Marketing, GQ Imports, Global Advertising, etc.) and they all are very similar to what i experienced. It was this website and my suspicions that led me to confront these scam artists. I am an ex-employee who has documents and information on their home depot operation and a real hatred for this company. I left the company earlier this year and checked back recently to see if anymore people were taken in by this company. I believe we can move forward and take legal action against this company with the proper motivation. I have notified the Department of Labor, The BBB, and the Attourney General Lisa Madigan. I would like to get some media attention on this company, also. Please, if you are interested in doing something about this, write me a response so we can get in contact. I was an employee there for only three weeks but after the little road trip to that top office in Detroit where I had to drive everyone around just screamed something awful. I am still trying to get a W-2 from them and $60 for the gas i spent going to Detroit and back. Very frustrated with this company and its ways they do business.

I'm not trying to post some opinionated report about this, I honestly don't know if this is a scam or not. But here is what I know:

The first thing anyone going into this should know, Mike Kriss has not promoted anyone to 'Owner' in 2 years, possibly longer. The average lifespan of someone in that business is 1-2 days. Anyone that is fairly gullable (like myself) and believes in the American Dream is going to be taken in during the interview. The hours worked are absolutely astounding and the wage is unbearable. Lets look at the reality of this... my tax return for almost 7 months of employment stated my wage was $8149. I was working a mean average of 75 hours per week.

Over the almost 7 months, my hourly wage works out to approximately $3.88 an hour.

This was being in the office at 7:30 everyday and not leaving til between 8:00-8:30 everynight, not to mention there was a 'leaders' meeting every Monday that usually went to 10-10:30.

Don't be fooled when Mike tells you that you go in for meetings everyday and are furthering your knowledge, he is helping you to be a better street hustler. In my time there I've been to most of the ghetto's in Chicago and Northwest Indiana, I have seen shootings, robberies, drug deals, and anything else you can imagine.

To my understanding, if Mike requires you to show up in the morning you need to be waged for that time you are in those meetings. Also, when you are in the warehouse in the evenings, you have to be waged (not to mention there is licensing and such for using the pallet jack). The moral of this story is that Mike needs to have his own warehouse personnel.

Illinois Public Act 94-1072 states that all employers are required to pay there employees minimum wages equal to $7.50 an hour for 40 hours per week. Then time and a half for hours in excess of 40 hours. Effective through July 1, 2008. After July 1, 2008 the rate jumped to $7.75 an hour. If you don't make enough money to equal that amount, good ol' boy Mike needs to make up the difference... contractor or not.

On the interview, you will be told that you will make no less than $500-600 per week and that Global Advertising reimburses you for you gas and car expenses. This is a blatent lie, they follow up saying that you can write off all that on your taxes, that is also a lie. I just took all of it too my tax guy and I have to be self incorporated to write off my gas like that. The only thing I was able to write off was the miles I used while at work. So keep close track of it if you're going to take the job.

Lets talk about the next thing that is wrong with this job, there is no insurance, whatsoever, if you need it there are private providers that can insure you, but keep in mind that it is very expensive, and they won't provide it if you aren't in perfect health and have no alarming medical history. Point in case, 3 weeks after I started I tore a tendon in my foot, instead of taking time off, Mike said I had to work if I wanted to keep my job, now my foot hurts ALL the time on a permanent basis. The next tidbit in a similar scenario, working like a dog I ended up with pnuemonia a few months later. I took a day off because I was become very ill, I had some breathing treatments and other things. All in all, I have $2000 in medical bills that were caused at/during work and I never even got any sympathy, in fact my job was once again threatened when I was unable to go in.

Mike is very manipulative and I was very taken in by him. I tried to quit several times and everytime he talked me back into staying, I was his main guy, and this and that so I stayed. Finally I just stopped showing up because my debt was building up and everytime I got close to getting something going it was crushed and I was told those people were too weak, or not good for this. When I left Mike told all of my friends that I was high maintenance and I wasn't good for the business so he had to cut me. GO MIKE!!!

Mike essentially keeps you in the field because that's what he make the most money on. The entire plan is to recreate yourself and the business practice. The reality is that Mike has several outside deals that failed, so he just doesn't let anyone go into business for themselves because he loses money on them eventually. But he has his business figured out, he keeps the people going in sales, and what you are told is supposed to be about $100,000 of profit is actually $300,000 for him. A specific example for you to review: The product costs on the chairs we ran was around $3.18, the seller profit was $1.50 per chair, and they were sold for $10.80 (tax) Even though most people don't collect tax because tehy are in the hood and the job is all about wheelin' and dealin', the real profits aren't even close to making $1.50 per unit. Anyhow, Mike sold approx. 21,000 of those chairs for 6 weeks. Doing some quick math on this, total money brought is was about $226,800, price on the units is $66,780, the money that the 15 distributors split was $31,500, and Mike's profit was $5.32 earning him $111,720 for 6 weeks work. Lets be generous to his little hole in the wall and give him a gererous $20,000 in operating expenses for that time and he still made a lot of money.

I left because I didn't want to be used and ripped off anymore, and I suggest anyone that reads this seriously considers the facts I have presented. I welcome you rebuttle Mike (Terrance).

You made $300 a week! Lol if I only made that much I'd probably be still crying about a company months after I've finished working there. We have people who easily make twice that within their first month. That's where 'working our asses off' is very relevant to the conversation here. It's easy to blame the business and call it a 'scam' just because you were no good at it (I don't know you or how good you were, I'm just judging from the fact that you were only making a pathetic $300/week after 1 yr experience). What were you on the phone 1/2 the time, or maybe you let the fact that some people weren't interested in what you had to say make you cry. We have people representing home depot and direct tv among other huge companies that would surely avoid any ties with a shady, unethical business. Such an alliance would cause huge losses for these well-known companies. As for being brainwashed, not many people would complain about being "brainwashed" into making 500-800/week. You, however are better off not being involved with the business. You must have horrible work-ethic, or be a half-witted 5th grade dropout or something.

By reading this listing and all the in depth research I have done on Hybrid Inc, GQ, Midwest Mkt Concepts,etc.... I will not be going to an interview.

I am looking for a job at this moment and you have saved me from Mike and Ellen.

I have no idea who you are nor do I care about the beef you have with the company. The simple fact that you stated you post facts and write false information is misleading. I was not fired/shut down/re-trained. I simply quit and moved on with my life as you should as well. Terrance you will soon realize that you are falling into the same trap that many other desperate individuals fall into. If you would pay attention to things before you decide to post your opinion you would understand that the person who hired me had nothing to do with the posting. The company is under FEDERAL INVESTIGATION regular companies that are "Management in Training" companies do not go under FEDERAL INVESTIGATION for unethical business practice. I was stating that I was there for a year and I know that everyone there "works their a*s off" that has nothing to do with it. Man, you really need to get a life. Let's be reasonable, this is not, I repeat NOT the way to get rich quickly. Anyone who has been in business for themselves knows that it requires a great deal of hard work to do so. Most avenues for business ownership require an up-front payment of at least 80-90,000, maybe more in addition to all that work. This company gives you the chance to own your own without all of the monetary investment, but we work our asses off! This job requires a certain skill set in order to be successful, which is the purpose of the 2nd interview. It's not atypical for some companies to have applicants 'shadow' a top employee to see if they're cut out for the job. Whoever interviewed you however, was obviously sadly mistaken. It happens sometimes, people look for sheer numbers in the recruiting process and are less selective, and hire nearly everyone but that winds up making things difficult in the end. I'm known for turning people away 1-2hrs into the interview because I'm selective. I only want to work with those who have the common sense to be able to treat this like a true interview, remain professional throughout the interview, and demonstrate some degree of work ethic.
P.S. The fact that you post anonymously, yet expect some degree of credibility demonstrates your lack of intelligence...Probably the reason why you didn't last.
