On May 15, I stupidly ordered Allumiere cream online, from Nova Skin Sciences.  My understanding was that I had 30 days to try the cream, which was reassuring, as I have sensitive skin.  As I checked out online, the site offered me another product to try under the same terms, for a .99 mailing fee; this product was called Niuvella.  The fee was added to my $3.96 Allumiere postage fee and the creams arrived in the same box.

As I suspected, the creams did not work for me, so on May 30, I called the company for an authorization to return the creams.  I immediately sent them USPS on May 30 to the St. Petersburg address.  The tracking number says the package was delivered June 1, 2017 and I quickly forgot about Nova Skin Sciences.

On June 30, I received an email from Hydra Skin, telling me I would be receiving a shipment. Hydra cream?  I discovered a charge of $115 in my checking account from CRVITTO, with the number 855-841-1888.  I had not authorized this charge!

I called the number listed in the email, which was 8887760643 and was told that I had only cancelled Allumiere, not Niuvella, and was obligated to pay for this shipment.  How is this, I asked?  I ordered both creams together, received both creams in the same box and returned them in the same box.  The person I spoke with questioned whether I had indeed returned the creams at all.  Happily, I had returned the creams via USPS and I produced my tracking number.  I am quite sure most consumers do not return these items Priority Mail.

What followed was a confused set of assertions from them:

1.  They stated that the original cancellation Authorization Number was for only Allumiere and had I intended to also cancel Niuvella, I would have had to call another number, as it was another company.  No mention was made of this when I spoke with a company representative on May 30.

2.  A female customer rep claimed I was only meant to try the creams for 14 days and had 30 days to return the creams. I was past the deadline when I cancelled, she claimed. But why was I charged $106 -under the name BeautyCare- on May 30 for only Niuvella and not also for Allumiere? This made no sense, because I hadn't cancelled Allumiere until May 30 either.

3.  I looked at the charges on my bank account and I was charged for two postage fees under two different company names, charged $106 under BeautyCare, received the June 30 email from Hydra Skin and was charged $115 from CRVITTO on June 30.  In their defense, they did claim they would refund $115, but refused to refund the $106.  I have yet to see the refund they claim is coming.

In the interests of other unwitting consumers like me, I am writing this article as a cautionary tale.  Beware of sharing credit card information without conducting a google search to uncover its reputation.  Believe me, they have all sorts of cover ups and claims to insure you never recover your unauthorized fees. If you need an anti-aging cream, shop locally.  And join PrePaid Legal, so that when scammed, you have the means to fight back.
